View Full Version : Can it be?

I'm thinking (conspiring) after reading the rumours for the upcoming year and recent events and something crossed my mind.
After all the striking closing BB based websites, can the Autumn mystery be a new Deluxe Blood Bowl Boxed set?

the closer of the websites was most likey due to the game (computer) being resently released. who ever bought the rights would'nt have been to happy about it showing up in search engines results before thier own site. The Mystery could be some thing other than SM mind. They seem to be using the other SM codex as fillers between major release. So two in a row seem unlikely to me

I agree with the computer game theory but if it was the cause, the closings would had happened months ago, prior to the game launch, not now, almost half a year later, no?

if we know any thing about GW is that it cogs rarely run at speed. Remember we’re talking about their legal department here. Any thing that involves lawyers seems to take an extraordinary amount of time plus we have no idea when the web site was first contacted and severed with notices. This could have been going on for months and many be months before that as they tracked down the owner though the sever.

Yep see the point about speed, but they were'nt new sites, they've been around for many years, so I think GW knew of its existence long ago, the point is why now?
The harm to the computer game is already done (using me as an example, I play JavaBB at Fumbbl, and discarded the pc game 'cause 1) already play BB online and 2) i feel robbed always in the rolls by the comp (but that's another point))
And also there's my dream about a new "3D" BB field (in the line of Space Hulk) and awesome new minis (in the line of Space Hulk)

Blood Bowl would be the next logical game to receive the deluxe treatment. It's a very popular, iconic GW game that still has a base of hardcore fans (me included). With the release of the video game I’m sure interest has peaked in the game. The only thing is…you can still buy the BB box set off the website, so it’s not really something that has been unavailable for over a decade.
The other problem is; how do you top Space Hulk? If you just update the two teams (orcs & humans) with some spankin’ new models, a new playing pitch and some new game pieces to go with it then it’s really not all that special. Perhaps plastic star players & big guys could be included? Perhaps some plastic coaches, cheerleaders for each team and Ref model?
Aslo; who says there will be more of these special edition boxes? I know that GW is watching Space Hulk sales very closely and it’s sold out worldwide (although I know a few stores who still have some) so you would think they would want to repeat that. But if they can’t find a project that’s really exciting they won’t put the resources into developing it. A lot of their older games have been kicked around a possible contenders; Warhammer Quest? Unlikely with the recent release of WHFRP 3rd and Talisman, their licensee FFG might not be too cool with a product that is seen as a direct competition to those two titles.
Necromunda, Man’O’War, Trolls in the Pantry, Squeltch, Oi! Dat’s Me Leg? Nothing has the “stand alone” aspect of Space Hulk. Personally I’d love to see a Special Edition of Adeptus Titanicus. Titans are part of the 40k lore and if you take out everything from Epic but the titans and revise the original rules you have a very detailed, very cool giant robot battle game. Some new sprues with all sorts of weapon options and various builds could be made. Add in some really sweet plastic building sets to stomp amongst and you’ve got a great game that will sell to the old guys who remember the first version and the kids who will think giant robots stomping around shooting massive guns is cool (which it is).

The last time I heard specialist games mentioned anywhere except september 2008 issue of white dwarf-it would be cool to have more variety (except for my wallet lol)

I personally am boycotting GW until they experience a change in their current asinine behavior. Not just the persecution of blow blow websites but their excessive price increases and substandard rules/codex products. The only way to get their attention is to make them hurt. The only way to make them hurt is to hurt their sales. Make this a Christmas that they to dip into the red.

ha, the boycotter's of games workshop this Christmas. i dont really think 10 people boycotting them is going to make that much of a difference and your boycotting a company that is just trying to protect its IP.
This is going to be just like the modern warfare 2 boycotter's.
