Dunno about the Retribution stuff, they're very good models, but I think the art-style's a bit too different from 40k stuff for them to work alongside Tau.

Not sure if Dark Reapers would be the best use of the Eldar's potential as allies, since Tau already have plenty of shooty infantry.

Maybe model them as a mix of Tarellians (http://wh40k.lexicanum.com/wiki/Tarellian#.Ue8VkmToyms) for the non-psykers, and Nicassar (http://wh40k.lexicanum.com/wiki/Nicassar#.Ue8Vp2Toyms) for the psykers? Lizardmen with Tau-bits would make good Tarellians, and mounted in heavily modified/decorated with trophies Devilfish-Serpents, the Warp-spiders being some sort of mutated subspecies that warps naturally, the Harlequin's kisses being modeled as whips of incredibly sharp wire etc could be pretty striking.
