Very quickly...
It is digital only, until October, when a hard copy will be released.
Nowt too exciting, but it is what it is.

Strange, considering the Iyanden codex and other rumours about hardback version.
But we'll see what happens.

Was told by my local manager when I asked about pre-orders.
This close, I see no reason for it to be inaccurate.

The ad in White Dwarf says July 13th for the Farsight ebook.

Well, at least I'll have plenty of time to decide if I want it or not... I'm almost afraid, for fear it'll take Farsight's forces and turn them into some kind of pseudo-CSM, after the way the mainstream Tau were turned into pseudo-IG. Complete with the utterly contra-historical-fluff weapons that can kill their wielders. HOW many editions was the plasma pistol the symbol of everything that was wrong with the Empire of man?

0.5 as Rail Rifes were introduced with a 'Gets Hot' option, and was seen an embodiment of The Greater Good :p

::blinks:: Uhm... when did rail rifles ever have Gets Hot?

When they were added by Chapter Approved, before the Tau Empire codex.

Yup. Though it was only if you split fire with them!

Besides, why is it so alarming that experimental weapons would be dangerous and imperfect? That's why it's not yet standard issue.

Riptide is not experimental - and one in three chance of taking a hit w no save if you Nova. it is practically guaranteed to take at least one hit if you Nova the Heavy Burst Cannon, too, even with saves - you have twelve chances to get a one, after all. It could quite concievably self-destruct, esp if it's already dinged up a bit.
The Ion rifle is not experimental either; that is standard issue to Pathfinders as a heavy support weapon.

Guess they've finally figured out the Galaxy is a nasty place, and your gun is still less likely to kill you than the 20 Orks you've not killed yet :p
But seriously, I get what you're saying, but I get the impression they're somewhat more pragmatic than when we first encountered them.

It's up for pre-order on the Ibooks store, release on the 20th. There is a sample to download should you be interested, it has some really nice artwork. £24.99, same as the Iyanden supplement.
Also, Mystery, your shameless Americanism has not gone unnoticed. Well, it had until I just noticed it now.
