Anyone notice that forge world recently released a sixth ed update to the repressor tank? Same stats and armaments as before, but cost 25 smackers over the old version. Also, no more 5 (6) firepoints anymore. Still two on the top like a rhino, but the real change is the improved armor 13 front. Might be ok with dominion squads and even as rhino replacements to help stop first blood...is it worth 75 points? Or does it not matter much at all because your meta frowns upon forge world like mine :(

Yeah, its crap.

The whole bloody point of the repressor was you sat a squad inside and shot out of it...I mean those little gun ports didn't used to be there just for looks.

I don't know. It's certainly changed roles, but 75 points for an AV13 transport you don't have to buy any upgrades for is still pretty darn good. A lot harder to stop a line of those than a line of Rhinos. Yeah, you can't use it as a five-gun bunker anymore, but you can use it to drive into the enemy's face and flame on, when it wasn't especially good at before.

EDIT: Actually, from a flavor standpoint, I'm happy to see the sisters getting some heavier hardware. The Sisters of Battle are not some namby pamby space marines who float like a butterfly and sting like a bee while crowing about how they're the "scalpel" of the Emperor. The Sisters of Battle are heavy mechanized infantry. Their stuff has always been up-armored fluff-wise compared to Astartes equivalents; I'm happy to see rules beginning to reflect that even in a small way.

I don't have a rulebook any where nearby, but I thought a rhino had 1 fire point that allowed two people to fire out, and the repressor now has 2 fire points for 4 people???

and yes I could be remembering many editions of the rules all overlapping.

The Rhino just says, "Two models can fire from the Rhino's top hatch," which is important because there's nothing inherent about having a hatch that lets you fire two models from it. The Repressor just says two fire points, without any indication of where those are. I think you could read it as saying that you have seven potential fire points (three firing points on either side, plus the hatch), but "two fire points," without any additional words, definitely means that no more than two models can fire from within.

I thought the phase "fire point" was defined in the rule book now, sigh, need a android version of the rulebook.

Well, it is, more or less. But it says this:

A Fire Point is a hatch or gun slit from which one or more passengers inside the vehicle can fire shooting weapons (or use witchfire/psychic shooting attacks). Unless specified differently in the vehicle's entry, a single passenger can fire out of each Fire Point and the other transported models cannot fire (emphasis in the original).

So ... a Repressor has seven individual model features that could be fire points (six gun slits and one hatch), but the rules specify two fire points without any additional specifications about multiple models being able to fire from a single fire point. So clearly only two models can fire total. As for where they can fire from - which of the seven options are the "two fire points" listed in the profile - my preferred method would be to say that any of the seven can be used, so long as no more than two are used.

Ahhh, thank you.

I must have remembered an previous FAQ to a rhino when it was still being described as having one fire point that 2 models can fire out of.

I like the new higher front armor but I wish the model had 3+3 fire points with split fire.
