So... Squats! I've had this project on the back burner for... 2 years or so. With NOVA 2013 coming up, I finally decided to get my stuff together and finish my squats army.
Truth be told, squats have interested me since the moment I found out about them. Starting off, I got a sick deal on Bartertown for about 20 of the OOP metal squats (the painted/based units in the photos) and managed to pick up like 12 Melta squats on Ebay that same week (this was all like 2 years ago, mind you).
Since then, I've been trying to settle on what army list to use. In my opinion, the luxury of playing a removed GW army is getting to pick and choose which codices most amuse me (while also building a rock hard list!). This is the current list that I have settled on:
Coteaz
Destroyer Lord with MSS, tachyon arrow, and Weave
x7 Jokaero Weaponsmiths and 5 Warriors Psycannon Razorback (TL Assault Cannon with Psybolts)
x6 Warriors with 3 Melta and Psycannon Razorback
x5 Necrons with Night Scythe
x5 Necrons with Night Scythe
x6 Wraiths with 1 Whip Coil
Annihilation Barge
Annihilation Barge
Annihilation Barge
Vindicare Assassin
Aegis Defense Line with Quad
-I have the regular old GW squats for the henchmen (pictured already)
-FW Chaos Dwarfs for the Necron Warriors (they look so badass imo)
-I just ordered some Hasslefree heavy weapon space dwarves to use as the Weaponsmiths
-I ordered two of these bad boys to use as Night Scythes (modelling a teleporter on their somehow :cool:)
-The Vindicare can be seen in the photos wearing a snappy brown fur hat (from Scibor's Moscals range)
-I hit up Mantic's warpath stuff for the Annihilation Barge, crudely bashing together the Marauders bike with the Forge Father's walker (looks pretty ballin' actually, haha)
-My Coteaz model is in the mail right now (an OOP Chaos Dwarf)
-Finally, the Destoryer Lord and his retinue of Wraiths consists of the Mantic Abyssal Dwarf Hybrid Lord and 5 other Hybrids! (The lord is pictured already painted/based)
Obviously, I'm going to be adding pistol holsters/grenades to all of the models that might look a bit out of place otherwise (especially the hybrids).
SO, thought? Ideas? Know where I can find some more badass squat models? Have any good painting tips/techniques for me? (I realize I'm quite terrible at it) Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
