I really wanted to do this as a work in progress piece, but there was some concern amongst our group that we might not have the same impact if people knew what was coming. I'm not so sure those concerns were valid, but either way I think every thing turned out more or less according to plan.

I'll start at the end and go back to the beginning. Here is the last photo taken of "Orkasmatron", the mightiest of Ork Great Gargants, before we packed him up and headed down to Adepticon 2013. While there he helped us win the Best Team Theme and Appearance award for the Warhammer 40K Team Tournament.

A lot of different materials went into building Orkasmatron, the first of which was wood. We made sure to leave the center hollow, Da Gof Rockerz stage would eventually go there.

After setting the Carnifex on the frame we started to realize just how massive this guy was going to be.

Yes that is a stage. In this picture you can see the drum set and the back drop.

The idea was that when Da Gof Rockerz saw Orkasmatron they each got a vision from Gork and Mork. Those visions resulted in six looted tracks comprised of sounds long lost to the warp. They went on to perform the greatest concert in the history of the universe, dedicated to the might of the one "Orkasmatron". (https://itunes.apple.com/us/album/orkasmatron-ep/id660461995)

While working on "Live From Da Boot" (https://itunes.apple.com/us/album/live-from-da-boot-ep/id541746596) my brother and I would practice the Motörhead song. It ended up serving as a big inspiration for this project. Our finished version ended up sounding more like the Sepultura cover than the original: you can hear it here. Thanks Grenndal, hope you had as much fun at Adepticon this year as we did. Here is the video of the Orks rocking out that we had playing on Orkasmatron's chest during the event. We are working on more animation material and should have something new done late this year or early next, so if you like this make sure to subscribe to our YouTube Channel. When we had the frame all ready we added on MDF board. Ben snuck into this picture, he is responsible for most of the work on the frame. Sorry ladies, as evidence by the ring on his finger, he is taken.

Next we built up the shoulders. At this point we still planned on having the upper portion being detachable. That wasn't working real well so eventual it was permanently attached.

At this point we started applying plasticard, a lot of it. We also put small sheets of brass in random places.

http://i1330.photobucket.com/albums/w568/Ted_Rostkowski/Orkasmatron/Work%20In%20Progress/abf6fafe-1194-40ab-a561-591697e4c320_zps1986596a.jpg (http://s1330.photobucket.com/user/Ted_Rostkowski/media/Orkasmatron/Work%20In%20Progress/abf6fafe-1194-40ab-a561-591697e4c320_zps1986596a.jpg.html)

Here is the first time we placed the frame onto the feet. They remained detachable until we finished. Joe is putting plasticard onto the shoulders using liquid nails. We ended up having to fix a lot of the initial liquid nail bonds with super glue. If we did all again we probably wouldn't use liquid nails.

Since Orkasmatron was commissioned by Ghazghkull Thraka it stood to reason that the Goff clan would be well represented in the design. We decided early on that he would have horns, which can be seen in this sketch. I'm not sure what the 4 and 1/4" or the 2" are all about, it turned out to be a whole lot bigger than that.

http://i1330.photobucket.com/albums/w568/Ted_Rostkowski/Orkasmatron/Work%20In%20Progress/e6af3741-97e6-404c-aa22-9a721f619a7e_zps17495fad.jpg (http://s1330.photobucket.com/user/Ted_Rostkowski/media/Orkasmatron/Work%20In%20Progress/e6af3741-97e6-404c-aa22-9a721f619a7e_zps17495fad.jpg.html)

The center of the head is pink Styrofoam glued and screwed to a wooden base. For this type of application Liquid Nails worked very well.

Foamcore was added on to the top of the pink foam to give it a smooth surface and for added depth. This section here would be the face of "Orkasmatron". Thin sheets of plasticard were placed behind the noise and the small eye.

For the large eye, "The Gaze of Mork", I have to give credit to my wife. I had a bit of tunnel vision and was trying to make the head look exactly like the sketch. With that in mind, we went to one of the local second hand stores and I was looking for an old camera lense to use for the eye. I wasn't having any luck when Heather grabs this electronic back massager and says " What about this?" Initially I dismissed it, but she persisted. Sure enough the gray plastic piece popped right off. We found the clear section, for the rim around the eye, there as well; it is a screw on lid for a hard plastic cup.

http://i1330.photobucket.com/albums/w568/Ted_Rostkowski/Orkasmatron/Work%20In%20Progress/8e32fcea-7873-4d16-9cf3-a5ebf2cc3168_zps44d3d71d.jpg (http://s1330.photobucket.com/user/Ted_Rostkowski/media/Orkasmatron/Work%20In%20Progress/8e32fcea-7873-4d16-9cf3-a5ebf2cc3168_zps44d3d71d.jpg.html)

The horns had to look cool. I wanted them to look like they came from a massively overgrown Squiggoth. At one point I got a hold of a pair of freshly cut horns from a genuine Wisconsin Cow. Those were a bit small and would have been a lot of work, which we already had plenty of. Our solution ended up being this pair of Texas Long Horns.

Thanks for sharing, I really like this picture. We got so caught up with everything at Adepticon that we didn't take a whole lot of photos ourselves. That makes it especially nice to see shots like this.

The center of the jaw was made of wood and would be not permanently affixed until much later. At this point the horns still come out.

http://i1330.photobucket.com/albums/w568/Ted_Rostkowski/Orkasmatron/Work%20In%20Progress/ad17ded2-7864-47b1-8c90-4ec5a8193470_zps8b93fec7.jpg (http://s1330.photobucket.com/user/Ted_Rostkowski/media/Orkasmatron/Work%20In%20Progress/ad17ded2-7864-47b1-8c90-4ec5a8193470_zps8b93fec7.jpg.html)

Here the plastic is being applied to the jaw and the head. Some details, such as the "eyebrow", have been added as well. Big bolts were used to hold the jaw in place. You can also see one of the circles that had been gouged out of the pink insolation using a hot wire to make a nice fit for the horns.

This shot goes back a bit, just before I started applying plasticard to the jaw and was in the process of sizing up the teef. I like the size reference you get with the Land Raider in the belly. You can also see the gear that we placed under the head from this angle.

http://i1330.photobucket.com/albums/w568/Ted_Rostkowski/Orkasmatron/Work%20In%20Progress/ff5544d4-134e-46af-959f-4e269666292c_zps04ee72c7.jpg (http://s1330.photobucket.com/user/Ted_Rostkowski/media/Orkasmatron/Work%20In%20Progress/ff5544d4-134e-46af-959f-4e269666292c_zps04ee72c7.jpg.html)

Here is the jaw a little further along with a set of 'uge teef. Still needs more rivets and a lot of detail to add to the sides before it is complete.

The vast majority of the work on the guns was done by Ben. This picture of the Lifta Droppa was done before the three prong claw was finished. It contains a toilet float among other things and was based heavily on the ForgeWorld version as opposed to the one from the Epic Great Gargant, inspiring the following lyrics:

"Behold Da one Orkasmatron
Wiff lifta droppa hand
Built in da Godz image
Da boyz purge da land"

http://i1330.photobucket.com/albums/w568/Ted_Rostkowski/Orkasmatron/Work%20In%20Progress/eca59ee7-a1ae-4edd-8912-f63228f217b6_zpsacf0b369.jpg (http://s1330.photobucket.com/user/Ted_Rostkowski/media/Orkasmatron/Work%20In%20Progress/eca59ee7-a1ae-4edd-8912-f63228f217b6_zpsacf0b369.jpg.html)

Here we have the Super Shooty Deth Kannon, which also gets mentioned in the song. In both of these pictures you can see the smoke stake that Joe built. It didn't make the lyric sheet but is still pretty cool.

"Super shooty Deth Kannon
Built by gretchin’ slaves
Destroy your Titan Legions
Send you Ta your grave"

The backside of Orkasmatron also got a lot of attention. Joe did most of the work, using electrical gang boxes, PVC pipe, plasticard, etc. That's Ben taking a shot to the chest from the Super Shooty Deth Kannon.

This picture is from further along in the project when we started placing glyphs and random pieces of scrap metal on. There is also a ledge on the backside of the model for a few Boyz to hang out on, two exhaust pipes and one exit.

At this point we started putting a bunch of guns, pipes, scrap, etc. on, taping some of the pieces in place until we felt good about them. You can also see the stage where the band would go along with the frame for the Jumbotron.

http://i1330.photobucket.com/albums/w568/Ted_Rostkowski/Orkasmatron/Work%20In%20Progress/4ae9c395-2f1c-44b9-92ef-1b8001ea005e_zps11359afd.jpg (http://s1330.photobucket.com/user/Ted_Rostkowski/media/Orkasmatron/Work%20In%20Progress/4ae9c395-2f1c-44b9-92ef-1b8001ea005e_zps11359afd.jpg.html)

One of Joe's ideas was to place flamers along the bottom\front of Orkasmatron. As the beast lumbers forward he'd shoot out sheets of flames incinerating any foolish enough to get that close. In addition they'd work perfect for band pyrotechnics.

Thanks, really appreciate it. For the Adepticon Team Tournament one of Da Four Mekaniaks (http://www.reverbnation.com/dagofrockerz/song/17740295-da-four-mekaniaks) that built Orkasmatron (http://www.reverbnation.com/dagofrockerz/song/17631654-orkasmatron) was from the Bad Moonz Clan (Geartoof). We still needed something for the shoulders. There was some talk about turning them into landing pads for Deffkoptas, but it was eventually agreed that we needed More Dakka (http://www.reverbnation.com/dagofrockerz/song/16970639-more-dakka). This turned out to be Dave's (the new guy) main contribution, two shoulder mounted weapons. This is the first one. Eventually we all agreed that this was a turbo laser and definitely looted.

We starting getting more of the model primed up and ready to paint. On the Jumbotron there is an image from the as of yet to be finished animation for Die Oomie Scum (http://www.reverbnation.com/dagofrockerz/song/16970666-die-oomie-scum). You can also see the drum set hanging out in the belly.

This project is rooted heavily in an Ork Fleet I made for Battlefleet Gothic. The perturbing stage piece for Orkasmatron (http://www.reverbnation.com/dagofrockerz/song/17631654-orkasmatron) comes from the display I made for the fleet as do Da Gof rockerz (http://www.reverbnation.com/dagofrockerz) miniatures.

The premise was that Da Gof Rockerz (http://www.reverbnation.com/dagofrockerz) performed a concert on Da Boot (the Ork Space Hulk) right before a battle to inspire Da Boyz to victory. When I started writing the songs to represent one of these concerts I started with BFG themes and quickly moved into 40K. The song 'Ere We Go (http://www.reverbnation.com/dagofrockerz/song/16970716-ere-we-go) gets its lyrics from the Battlefleet Gothic rule book and Da Red Button (http://www.reverbnation.com/dagofrockerz/song/16970678-da-red-button) is inspired by an Ork special rule from the game. Die Oomie Scum (http://www.reverbnation.com/dagofrockerz/song/16970666-die-oomie-scum) and Fight, Fight, Fight (http://www.reverbnation.com/dagofrockerz/song/16970656-fight-fight-fight) are about two of the Orks favorite pass times, killin' oomies and fighting. More Dakka (http://www.reverbnation.com/dagofrockerz/song/16970639-more-dakka) is about, well more dakka and da boyz can always come back for Annuver Go (http://www.reverbnation.com/dagofrockerz/song/16970427-annuver-go).

There are models for an Ork Band, but they lacked a drummer and I didn't want to make a one that looked out of place with the rest of the band. I toyed with idea of just using them and making an Orky drum machine. In the end I decided to make a drummer and the rest of the band as well. Another reason for converting my own band that was I wanted to include an Ork Nob in the band to represent the Bass Player.

This is Krog Gorkreig, the biggest of Da Gof Rockerz (http://www.reverbnation.com/dagofrockerz) and therefore the leader. He is the one that commands the crowd and lays down the low end with his thumping bass. When the song calls for a deeper voice, Krog provides the vocals.

Morgob BadGof provides the voice and the beat for Da Gof Rockerz (http://www.reverbnation.com/dagofrockerz). Morgob has a bit of a size complex and likes to think he is charge, with Krog having to put him in his place on more than one occasion. His snare drum is a stretched out human face that he beats on so viciously that it often needs to be replaced during the middle of a song.

Orkasmatron (http://www.reverbnation.com/dagofrockerz/song/17631654-orkasmatron) was build by Da Four Mekaniaks (http://www.reverbnation.com/dagofrockerz/song/17740295-da-four-mekaniaks), the best Big Mek in each of their respective clans: Blood Axes, Death Skulls, Bad Moons, Goffs. They were brought together by Ghazghkull Thraka on an abandoned forgeworld to construct the greatest of the Great Gargants. When there work is done the metal behemoth would be the stage for Da Gof Rockerz (https://www.reverbnation.com/dagofrockerz).

The Koncert begins with synthesized noise and the crowd in a hypnotic chant. This is followed by ear splitting squigpipes right before the band performs Disciples of Da Waaagh! (http://www.reverbnation.com/dagofrockerz/song/18080337-disciples-of-da-waaagh) They follow that up quickly with Da Mob Rule (http://www.reverbnation.com/dagofrockerz/song/17955463-da-mob-rule) and then unleash their rage with Zoggin' Hostile (http://www.reverbnation.com/dagofrockerz/song/18034544-zoggin-hostile). Patronage is paid to the Prophet of da Waaagh! with their performance of Ghazghkull is a Gof Rocker (http://www.reverbnation.com/dagofrockerz/song/18003797-ghazghkull-is-a-gof-rocker). A sonic tribute to Da Four Mekaniaks (http://www.reverbnation.com/dagofrockerz/song/17740295-da-four-mekaniaks) proceeds the finale' Orkasmatron (http://www.reverbnation.com/dagofrockerz/song/17631654-orkasmatron). As the final notes ring out the last remaining members of the Imperium on the planet launch a desperate attack.

Keeping with the theme of Orks looting a forgeworld to build a Great Gargant the songs themselves are "looted" as well. The songs are parodies of Testament's\Disciples of the Watch, Black Sabbath's\The Mob Rule, Pantera's\****ing Hostile, The Ramones'\Sheena is a Punk Rocker, Metallica\The Four Horseman (with a bit of homage to Megadeth's\Mechanix) and Motörhead's\Orkasmatron (tip of the hat to Sepultura's cover version).

All of this Orkhestration is lead by Da Gof Rockerz (https://www.reverbnation.com/dagofrockerz) Lead Guitarist and master of Da Waaagh! Pedal, Wurr Zagskull. He is the main driving force in the band and it is his psychic energy that holds the band together.

Brock Garbutt is da uvver guitarist in the band. He is unruly even by Ork standards and, if this can even be measured, the ugliest of the four. He barely keeps it together as he lays down the Rhythm that keeps the 'eads banging. While most Orks speak very few words Brock only moves his lips to snarl.

It was decided fairly early that Orkasmatron would be painted in the colors of the Gof Clan. We started with the feet, figuring they'd be the least visible so if they got a little jacked up it wouldn't be the end of the world.

We started with a black primer and then went over it with a silver spray paint. Over this we airbrushed brown, blue, and yellow inks, and sealed it with a clear coat. Then using an air brush we misted water onto the model and salt was sprinkled on. When this dried an air brush was used to spray on black. The salt was brushed off the model before we started on the details. We brushed the riveted strips Bolt Gun and added rust with various brown ink and paint washes before highlighting them with Chainmail.

That's the biggest Ork titan I've seen. How tall is it? and do you have any pictures of the back?

It measures 43 inches from the table to the top of the main exhaust pipe. Here are a couple pictures of the back of Orkasmatron. (http://www.reverbnation.com/dagofrockerz/song/17631654-orkasmatron)

The same painting techniques used on the feet were also utilized on the body. Red was applied on various pieces along with using rust effects on others. Check patterns were applied to random places and any brass was finished up using a verdigris effect.

That is exactly what we thought. Here is a video we put together for Orkasmatron (http://www.reverbnation.com/dagofrockerz/song/17631654-orkasmatron), I think you'll enjoy it.

I'm late to the party, but this is an awesome build. I am considering attempting a scratch-build along these lines for my army, more along the Stompa scale.
