View Full Version : Where are the new Eldar Jetbikes?

I have been looking in all the BOLS articles for this releease but nobody seems to wonder about the missing eldar jetbikes that should have been out with the new codex. I love the dark eldar bikes and i was hoping that we would finally get the awesome new design for craftworld eldar jetbikes. There are pics on the internet of a new design for several years now! The old models are so damn static and don't look half as speedy as the dark eldar ones... Has anybody heard of a next wave where these new toys could be released?

Just repacks of the old models.

I haven't heard anything about actually new sculpts being released. It's a shame as they are great troops, have finecast additions you need to build codex units (cannon and spears and autarch) and plain missing other options (farseer, spiritseer, and warlocks in jetbikes).

I just don't think they look dated enough to warrant new models.

Me too! :( I converted 12 harlie jetbikes by merging the the Eldar/new DE bike kits with Harlie finecast bitz. Way too expensive to roll out on mass though.

Really?

The cone head helmets aren't throwback enough for you?

Maybe the tricycle handlebars?

Or how about the faux leather biker jacket? :P

That model is *terrible*

just look at all the artwork - old and new , gw aren't bringing out the starwars/darkelder speeder bikes any time soon. if ever. Possibly doesnt fit the aesthetic they are looking for with craftworlders, where it does fit the high speed racer wyches of the dark kin.

Also - re-boxed the models too, so they are hear to stay for a long time.

You should try and find one of the old harlequin jetbike cowlings thats in the shape of a giant grinning face.

The bike itself isn't terrible, it's the non-poseable rider. One looks ok, but if you plan on putting a dozen on the table having them all the exact same pose is really monotonous. I'm also tempted to make Harlie bikes, but it is a spendy conversion.

I love the old metal cowlings... I have a couple tucked away that I thought might make nice character bikes but they are a little smaller than the plastic ones.. :)

They do get pricey! Luckily I picked up 30+ Eldar jetbikes for little more than a song last edition. Still have the $ pain of finecast Harlies and DE bikes though... I usually hate finecast but in this case being able to cut/heat and pose the Harlequins is invaluable.

As for the standard Eldar bikes you can always use guardian parts to get some better riders. The bikes aren't total garbage but the one energongoodie posted up earlier is so much cooler!

There's a couple of new art pieces in the codex which are clearly based on the current models, one of them copying the horrible riders exactly, but the ones on the cover have some slight differences like the engine exhaust protruding from the back of the bike. Repackaging doesn't mean much as they've moved all bikes over to 3 to a box and it would have been odd to keep the eldar bikes as singles. Also it didn't take long for them to release a new hive tyrant after finecasting the old one. If there are new ones in the pipeline I expect they'll come with a saim-hann supplement.

Sure, you could mix it with a guardian box. But you're still paying more for bikes. A nice multiple-part plastic kit would be way more economical. If I'm going to go that far, I'll buy the nicer dark eldar kit.

I do think we'll see another kit sooner or later. I'll just work on other things until then.

The eldar release was pretty strong, but the rumoured jetbikes/shining spears release would of made it feel more complete IMO.

Regardless of looks, I think them being just shy of 20 years old is reason enough to refresh the design a little (see also: Phoenix Lords). Make me feel less old too >_>

Yea I think alot of people were hoping the bikes would get an update, hopefully FW will release a kit if they don't I doubt they will get an update any time soon. Also very much agree that some of the phoenix Lords/Lady need to be re-done, even if they just make them all finecast instead of just a radom selection so they would be easier to convert would be great.

The only reason I never bought the current bikes is I saw the pictures of the new bike from GD a few years ago. I fully expected the new sculpts to be out with the new codex (insert sad face here).

Here's hoping for the next Eldar codex in 6 year's time [/pessimism]

Well, here's something to light your enthusiasm ... if the Iyanden suplement "does well" then GW will very likely release more of them in the future. This could include a Saim-hann supplement complete with an updated jetbike model.

Hold out hope!

That's exactly what I thought! These chopper riders on the 20 year old models are so... meh... I was so exited to get the new ones with the new codex and now it seems i have waited six years just to get a repack of the old ones...

I'm really hoping for amazing second wave releases a few years from now. I hope they keep churning out codexes at their current prodigious rate and get everything into 6th with their fancy new big kits and what have you, then come back around and do a great big facelift for the tired old standby.

Honestly, they'd probably have another 500 of my dollars if they'd redo the CSM sculpts. Those troops and terminators are just way too fugly for me to go all in though. Eldar held up a bit better, but compared to the dark eldar they are hurting and those jetbikes are number one on a lot of peoples hit list. More aggressively styled bikes with characterful riders would be amazing. I'm not sure how the shining spears would hold up though, as the whole imagery of space knight is sort of dependent on them riding high in the saddle, and they'd look a bit silly pulling a kawasaki racer pose while holding on to a giant lance.

I don't mean to **** on anyone's dreams here, but umm...they went through the trouble of designing a new box, recalling the old, and shipping the new ones out.

This box is here to stay.

Pfft, that's repackaging, not designing. Taking a picture of the same three models they've had on the shelf for 10 years isn't exactly an expensive task. It also means they have hundreds of the existing model they want to get rid of before they launch a new one. Not really evidence of much.

Your right it does look really good. I do have one small concern. is this not gunna be a bit more expencive then just lumping it? I know one box would do nine bikers but is that still not going to be a bit much for someone if they wanted an all bike army? on that note how many bikes are there normally in a biker army? just because i would be intrested to know. sorry about all the questions:o

Since we're showing off our conversions I thought I'd jump in with my own. I made-up bits enough for about 20 bikes but I never got around to finishing them. What's that I heard about Gamer's ADD? Yeah, big time. Actually I was waiting to see the new one. Like everyone else I thought it was right around the corner. Oh well. Back to building my own. Actually started re-doing the jetboard. Hope to get it done sometime this year.

You can buy the torsos and heads seperately off eBay pretty cheap. When you factor in that the Guardian jetbike squad is cheaper than the Dark Eldar one it it justifiable. Especially when you have to find Guardian bits and Eldar bike canopies to convert the Reavers, the above conversion is far more cost effective.

Like many people on here, I don't think think that the Jetbikes are that bad.
it's the Rider that is showing it's age.

If you're fed up waiting for a new release, you could always do what I've done for my Warlocks on Jetbikes.

These guys popped up on ebay a little while back but quickly sold out.

This is what GW has wrought with their stupid release schedule. The free market will provide that which the consumer demands... by hook or by crook.

A Russian vendor on Ebay made them. I bought a squadron of five and swapped the heads with Guardian ones and they look great. The resin quality is just as good as Forgeworld. Plus, at $12 a pop it's cheaper than the old GW 'choppers.' Never cared for the easy rider look myself.

Nice Autarch, very Naidhu Fireheart like. Shame he wasn't in the codex. Are the blades from the Wraithblades?

This is a warlock I did as a project a year or so ago. Warlock along with jetbikes are an awesome combo. Take the primaris spell (which gives them shrouded) so they get a 3+ jink save!

I would say that when the Siam-Hamm suppliment comes out we will see a new set of Jetbikes. There was alot of talk about a guardian combi box, as well as a number of aspects being reworked. But the only thing we got reworked was the Wraithguard, which fell inline with the supplient tha was released. I would say that we will see aspects with a Alotic release, Bikes with Siam Hamm, and guardians with Ulthwe. Whenver those actually come out.

I would say that we will see aspects with a Alotic release...

I'm pretty sure the aspect warriors would come out with a Biel-Tan supplement, given their swordwind army fluff. An Aliatoc supplement would be Rangers/Pathfinders and if we are lucky (but I doubt it) Exodites. I'm not sure Guardians would be re-done, again, in a Ulthwe supp. They may release plastic Warlocks in a seer council box or something.
