Ok well how about a thread on good music for a 40K theme. Please post a couple songs and artist and lets limit the debate and just let people put what they think is good

I see these threads usually turn into people saying what their favourite bands are.

however, this is what I like. Mostly by band:
Epicon (epic, movie soundtrack quality music)
Sybreed (good, melodic metal IMO)
Iced Earth (just awesome)
Black Mages (Final Fantasy music, gone heavy metal)
Kamelot (more for WHFB, but I like them)
Apocalyptica (4 hardcore cellos)
Nightwish or Lunatica (Orchestrated Opera Metal,pretty awesome)
Kobra and the Lotus (my friends band...)

Those are just general bands I have on my playlists while playing games. there are dozens of indie bands or internet artists that I have, but they are a little hard to dig up.

well, bolt thrower "is" the "official" soundtrack to 40k (open for interpretation)

the problem is that 40k is such a broad canvas that getting one specific song for 40k is going to be extremely difficult.
as much as i'd like to see some heavy metal in the spot, i can't really see someone marching their Tau or Eldar to Raining Blood (it's more khorne anyways :p )
if i had to go with one song that could be used almost anywhere in 40k, i'd probably go with Hell March. i know, i know, it's been done to death by everyone and their mother (kinda like the "village bicycle", lol), but it does fit in more places than any other one piece i can think of right now.

I agree with entendre, each army would have different music for it's "feel." I know there are specific songs that remind me of certain armies when I hear them. There are even certain CD's that I could theme an army with.
Like Entendre said, each army could have different music for them. I always imagined the Tau listening to techno and bad rap music.

I go classical. Holst's Planets suite, Verdi's Dies Ira passages, even the Der Ring des Nibelungen (Wagnar's ring cycle).

Although it seems many of the above choices are big operatic metal pieces, so all I'm doing is removing the electronics and vastly increasing the number of instruments. *laughs*

Well I was looking for songs that are useful for the GAME so each Race could have a song or type of songs or music that can be used to jack one up for a game or music that is themeatic. Great start
