Iron Maiden. Still going, and never, ever release a truly duff album. Oh some might feel it's not as good as Number of the Beast, but hey, that's Number of the Beast.....

Oh yeah I forgot Iron Maiden, another favorite. Not so keen when Bruce went missing for a bit but I don't think they have released an album I didn't enjoy.

And have Number of the Beast, Brave New World and Somewhere in Time on my playlist permanently.

Only if you have respect for the music industry as an whole...
In these days of mass consumerism the record companyies tell people what music to buy then make a fortune from the artist and if you don't happen to fit into the "now" sound then you have an icecubes chance in hell of being picked up by a major label, then without a major label you don't get the exposure so don't get the sales.
Then now with the age of the click and buy songs the album is a dying art, can you imagine dark side of the moon if it has just had three singles released and the rest never made it. The concept of "concept albumns" would be an anachronism.

I enjoy it when he disses sh*te MCs. :p
My favourites are Stan (obviously), Lose Yourself, Rain Man, Berzerk, Just Lose It, Criminal, Rap God, then a couple of colabs One Shot 2 Shot (Em with D12), and I Need A Doctor (actually a Dre song featuring Em with Skylar Grey)

The goodness of Corp was proportional to Glowsticks and Vodka...
Also, the Dj used to put ToN when I was spotted out and aboot

And the vodka was cheap then.
When that happens you might be spending too much time in there.

Eminem is the best selling artist of the 2000s, has 220 million sales worldwide, making him one of the best-selling music artists of all time. Has over 6 billion hits on his videos. Has won 13 Grammy awards. Is ranked 83rd in Rolling Stone's 100 greatest artists of all time. To top it off, 13 number one positioned singles in the UK, more in the USA.

Wow. Man has had a lot of success.
You may not like his music, but you have to respect that.

There's no accounting for taste :D

1) get to next grade a work, with resulting payrise enabling funding of idea.

2) move into a bigger flat, ideally a garden flat.

3) procure a rescue pooch, preferably of a soppy breed like a Staffie, and call the dogbert Artoo.

4) arrange a dog nanny type for Artoo so he or she is not home alone.

5) there is no need for a step 5.

Rescuing dogs is the way to go. Sometimes though you may have a breed in mind but when you actually get to the rescue home another dog will choose you. It really is a two way street. Older dogs a great if you plan for him or her to be home alone a bit. They tend to not mind lounging around and hanging out by themselves as much. Getting a sitter / walker is great but obviously they generally do things on an hourly basis. Plus older dogs really need a second chance as they generally get passed over for the younger dogs.
Just remember with the more powerful breeds, no matter how soft they appear they may have a history. As I found out to much regret and heartache. Obviously all dogs are capable of giving a nip, but with the stronger ones it can be a bit more than that. Good luck with the plan, look forward to pics of the dog that chooses you :)

Likely a couple of years off at the moment, but determined to make it come to pass!

And definitely going the rescue route. I love Dogs, and I've never seem happier or more loving pooches than rescue pooches! Plus I see it as the moral thing to do as a Dog lover :)

Funnily enough a study done in New York found that in cases where people were found dead in apartments with pets it was always the dogs which had started to eat the bodies, never cats. I think it was something to do with how each species eats, domestic cats can't tear the flesh off a large carcass.

I want a Corgi called Robert.
I have in my head "Robert, that's a person's name" ala Mayor West and his cat catapult.

I have a plan. An it is a good plan....

If 4 is not-viable, alter 3 to get a lurcher, they are good with being left a lone.

I want a pair or three of Deer Hounds, ho-hum. I have a plan for this year at work. 1. Take as much training and formal courses that they will pay for, 2. Leave

+1 My hounds are rescues, the one was on the RSPCA rescue show on sky 1 we found afterwards, not sure I'd want to see that episode...

the only thing preventing me from becoming a cat lady is the fact that I am allergic. I might have to go for the more esoteric 'lizard lady'

They have a unique cunning. At my home just outside minehead we had sliding doors, the dog managed to open these, but knew he wasn't allowed on the beds, so would climb on the beds then when he heard a car pull up the track would put his head under the net curtains to look out to see if anyone was coming. Having spotted us and we spotted him, he got down from the bed and went and lay down in front of the sofa so that when we came in he looked like he had been there the whole time.

Currently alternating, disc for disc, between the complete Clone Wars (barring the movie pilot. Should go buy that today really) and complete DS9.

This is most pleasing!

And I'm loving Aayla Secura's fighting style. Very fluid. Somehow more Jedi than the other Jedi!

Mr Mystery
12-24-2013, 06:19 AM
It's a shame the series is so much better than the films. Far more use of the Force evidenced, particularly in combat.

Barring the odd box hurl, you don't see much Force use in combat.

eldargal
12-24-2013, 06:24 AM
Yup, though it actually makes the prequels better if you watch them in order. Mother enjoyed Eps I-II well enough but then watching the entire run of Clone Wars followed by EpIII was amazing for her and pretty amazing to watch. She blubbed when Aayla got gunned down during Order 66, she had no idea about the Jedi purge.:) It also makes I-II more tolerable because you know they grow into more agreeable characters (even Jar Jar) whereas before the films were a bit hollow on that front. Though III is still fine on it's own I think.

Mr Mystery
12-24-2013, 06:28 AM
III is a bit good, and much underrated by pedantic neckbeards everywhere.

I feel the series makes up for the time lost in Episode I, the major events of which could have been condensed down into 'flashback' type scenes.

Really looking forward to Rebels now, especially seeing as they've taken the majority (if not all) the creative talent from Clone Wars to the new series. I do hope they don't mess with the animation style too much as well. Clone Wars just feels right!

In the last year I have become massively disillusioned with Doctor Who, I almost think they're trying to use "time travel did it" as an excuse for bad writing. The enemies are old hat and overdone.
They just seem to be running out of ideas and when they try something the fans don't like, they almost immediately ret con it with time travel.

eldargal
12-26-2013, 06:41 AM
Yeah the writing is what's letting the show down recently, since Moffat took over. Some great story lines and some very good things (like bringing the daleks properly back and making them scary again).

Mr Mystery
12-26-2013, 06:45 AM
I disagree entirely.

The shows been much improved since Moffat took the reins. Long story arcs set up and explored. 4th dimension used well. And far less 'well I'll just sonic me way out of this'

eldargal
12-26-2013, 06:48 AM
It's improved in some ways, more focus on alien worlds instead of every episode being on earth or on a space station or something around earth and various other things but the plots have been ridiculously convoluted and the companions are problematic in the way they are written. I'm still enjoying the show in general but there are some problems there.

Wildeybeast
12-26-2013, 09:31 AM
Moffat did his best writing when that was all he had to do. Since he's taken over, the best episodes have been Mark Gatiss' ones. I thought it was bit lame and their way of getting round the running out of regeneration so was a massive cop out.

Random thought.....

As much as I admire them for kicking their habit, reformed junkies getting pious about drugs honk me off. I mean the majority of people figure out drugs are for gimps *without* even trying them.

It's the reported content. Nothing specific about staying or leaving Europe, but also suggesting Ze Germans would be better off out the Euro.

If it was right or centre right, I'd expect more about leaving Europe. Left or centre left, more about staying in.

It's nigh impossible to be truly central, but this on seems open.

Of course the Germans are better off out of the Euro. They're the only ones keeping it afloat. The problem is if they leave, the Euro collapses and all the other Eurozone countries are stuffed, which in turn stuffs the German economy. And ours.

the guys at work and some of their friends play five a side football every week. I got invited along to make up the numbers today and some people weren't too sure. I went in goal and the score was about 4-4 at the end and I was a little annoyed at letting 4 in, turns out last week the score was 24-11, I am told I am not allowed back next week :D

Yeah the few times I've been roped into playing a bit of footy, I always end up in goal.

Kirsten
12-29-2013, 02:57 PM
I am happy to be in goal, and nobody else ever wants to, so I have no problem with it. At one point somebody said I was peter schmeichel, and after stopping yet another shot somebody at the other end went 'who is that?!' stopped one guy's shot and he stood there staring in disbelief
'how did you stop that?'
'you kicked it pretty much straight at me'
'yeah but everyone else gets out of the way when I do that'
'I'd be a rubbish keeper if I did that'
'well... but...'
:D

were they both playing towards the one net?
Otherwise surely your team would want you back?

Kirsten
12-29-2013, 06:02 PM
the other team don't want me back, but I am coming back for their team instead :p
took fifteen minutes (out of an hour) for them to get a goal past me, and apparently it has never taken that long before, and they have been playing every week for six months. I stopped somewhere in the region of thirty shots.

Carl really is a bad mutha...ker.

Carl irritates me, it's his fault that Dale died and he is always wandering off and doing stupid things

Up to season 3 now, exciting ...

Though I have found if I binge on too many episodes I end up with walking dead dreams...

After repairing my neighbour's fence (don't get me started) I stood back and caught myself thing, "that should keep the walkers out"

2014 might be a quieter year for me.....2013 has been pretty mental, as was 2012 and 2011.

But 2014? Got around 18 months before I can realistically achieve the next grade at work, and currently really enjoying my role. Not much else I need to be doing in the meantime. Though if opportunity presents, that can all change!

Also, I'm going to be 34 come May. Which is mildly alarming!

Sir Patrick Stewart steered the listener in the right direction with this response:

"It's not a simple, straight-forward answer unlike, probably, any other country where cows moo as cows moo. In England, we're dominated by class, by social status and by location. So, for example, a cow that is in the field next to my house in West Oxfordshire would moo in one kind of way, and a cow in a field in the semi-industrial town I grew up in in the North of England would moo in another kind of way."

Pulled a lass.

Copped off.

Find out she has mental health issues, should have been in hospital, and hadn't taken her meds, after we got back to my hotel room.

Knock things on head.

Wake up to find her taking full advantage of morning wood. With no raincoat.

So now I have to book in at the sexual health clinic ASAP.
