Yes as funny as a rape joke.
It has been done bfore with piano wire that when you hit it at speed slices through you. Some people have been in hospital for extended stays because of this hillarious jape.

Though have to say, being an old railway line, that path is in pretty good nick, so a cyclist can get up to a fair speed on it. If you're ever in Edinburgh, defo worth hiring a bike to explore it.

Not everyone travels with their pushbike though!
Seriously good little run, though given I last cycled it...ooh...let's see....20 odd years ago, it's probably not quite as long as I remember it.
But, it does run from Davidsons Mains (very outskirts), right into the centre of the city. One of the advantages of the Beeching Cuts I guess. Few as they are.
Wolfshade
11-12-2013, 07:31 AM
You actually touch on a good point, there are a lot of Beeching lines that are abandoned that could easily be converted to walking/cycling paths that join hubs together.
Mr Mystery
11-12-2013, 07:33 AM
Yup! Keeps you off the road, and away from pedestrians.
Many would need some kind of re-routing though, as in places new buildings cross where the lines used to run.
Makes cycling quicker, more convenient and safer all round.

What is this ship nonsense?
It's shorthand for relationship, a situation in fandoms where people say they like an existing or possible (or even impossible) relationship between two or more characters. It often is based on little hints and/or wishful thinking (EXCEPT SWAN QUEEN THE PARALLELS ARE THERE IT IS ENDGAME). The name of a ship is often a combination of the characters' - for instance Iron Man / Captain America is Captain Iron, DarkLink and Deadlift (seriously, look at how link posts about him, and they've got the same initials - I don't know how Bigred could make it any clearer) would be Darklift or Deadlink etc.

w00t w00t a furhter 48,000 employed between July and September. Mr Balls looks like he might be wrong.
The number of people claiming Jobseeker's Allowance fell by 41,700 to 1.31 million in October.
The number of people in work rose by 177,000, while the percentage of 16-to-64 year-olds in employment rose to 71.8%.
Though of course we don't know if these people "employed" are full or part time or on zero hours contract.

"Mr. Balls might be wrong". Well, no, because 48,000 is not enough people to count as more than a "fluctuation". You still have 2.7 million people formally unemployed, plus unknown millions more underemployed. As well as this, you have a phenomenon where the unemployment regime is so patronisingly insulting and unpleasant (seriously, mandatory attendance at "courses" which "teach" you how to wipe your own arse) that people are just giving up on unemployment benefits altogether in favour of informal or no work - the "fake hairdresser" phenomenon. You're not actually employed, but you don't show up on the unemployment statistics either. This "reduction" isn't necessarily anything of the sort, and it's certainly nothing to get excited about.
If this is anyone's idea of "recovery", then please don't go into medicine.
The point is that this fluctuation has been continued and positive.
The bank of england says:
"In the United Kingdom, recovery has finally taken hold. The economy is growing robustly as lifting uncertainty and thawing credit conditions start to unlock pent-up demand."
The lowest figures for 3 years is a good thing, and 1.31 million on Job seekers, the last twice it was like this was Decd 98 on a downward trend or Feb 09 on an upward trend.
The specific point was that mr Balls said that the public sector job losses wouldn't be picked up by the private sector, which it has been.
But you are right to point out that there are those who are under employed as I hinted at with my comment about being on zero hours contract or part time.
Yes there is huge discrepancies and the number of unemployed youth is going to fall, this year is the first year where you have to be 18 to leave full time education so you will have 2 years of no additional numbers being added.
I think it would be cynical to so that it isn't a postive thing and another step towards recovery, what with revised growth forecasts up and so on and so forth.

Unfortunately, I think that is a more general problem in politics, don't bother to solve the issue just fling mud.
I listen to PMQs all the time (well each wednesday) and it is just an arguement about who did (or would do) worse, or how the proposed solution won't work.

there is a lot of that, but labour are far worse. it amazes me how week after week Miliballs throw the same demonstrably false rubbish at the conservatives, and Cameron points out the facts. it is embarrassing once, but to keep on doing it is ridiculous. three weeks in a row over the summer Ed Milipede accused the conservatives of doing something, only for Cameron to point out each time that it was labour who had done it before they came to power.

I have always been a bit confused by scientists (usually scientists in films, not necessarily real ones) who go on about how amazing they are because they can survive three weeks without a head. how is that an advantage? what does it actually do for those three weeks? presumably nothing at all. seems a bit pointless to me.

yeah wouldn't surprise me at all. I know next to nothing about PETA, they don't really get any air time over here, so I wanted other's opinions about the piece. I have always been a bit confused by scientists (usually scientists in films, not necessarily real ones) who go on about how amazing they are because they can survive three weeks without a head. how is that an advantage? what does it actually do for those three weeks? presumably nothing at all. seems a bit pointless to me.
Well looking at internet forum and xboxlive there are people who can survive without a head indeffinately.
Perhaps not having to do your hair would be an advantage? Or not having to sneeze, IDK.

basically we could spend 11.5% of our weekly takings on staff, the problem was, it was 11.5% of the current week, so you wouldn't know your takings until the end of the week, by which time you had already employed the staff... so once I started having a day off, that needed an extra person in. the second area manager then came and told me that there was an agreed maximum number of hours per week, rather than a percentage. so basically they changed the system, which was great, but didn't bother to tell me and then complained when I didn't follow it. one of the reasons I wont work for them any more...

So you can keep both the derailment and league of fatties alive? It's somewhere under edit settings, there's a white box you paste it in under edit profile I think which is under settings.

Urgh, pop corn. The only thing corn should be used for is making cornflour so you can thicken sauces.

This is an animation of someone dying while having an MRI scan (http://25.media.tumblr.com/tumblr_masca3Ri4G1rxz0joo1_500.gif). Before you die, your brain releases tons and tons of endorphins that make you feel an amazing range of emotions. Tragically beautiful.

BELL ringers at Kilmersdon's church narrowly escaped injury when the one of the bells came crashing down during their weekly practice.
The 5th, which is one of the six bells located within the church's 600-year-old bell tower, was knocked down by the one tonne tenor bell which had come adrift before it fell two floors to become wedged in the bell trap during a practice session on Tuesday, November 5.

One drink....5 days of 'how's yer father'.....that's some powerful Rohypnol. But with his general lack of talent, and penchant for refering to himself in the third person at all times, he'd probably need it industrial strength.
