Right, what a lot of people don't seem to realise is that we think makes sense for a religion to discriminate against is shaped by what we see our religions discriminating against. The religions we have most exposure to are Abrahamic (Christianity, Judaism, Islam). By world religion standards these are unusually harsh in their treatment of homosexuals. The Emperor worship of the IoM is not Abrahamic, so what Abrahamic religions discriminate against is irrelevant. It would never dawn on most of us to assume the IoM bans the consumption of pork or beef, for example, but they are present in the two other Abrahamic religions.
In other words, we need to separate our own ethnocentric opinions on how a religion acts towards certain groups and focus on what is actually written, and there is nothing about homophobia. Well one person claims the 2nd edition SoB codex mentions it but I can't find any reference to it so not sure about that. Even then it is linked to the extremist Redemptionists (who look down on fornication in general) and the Imperialists.

Yet you still see people (men) claim drink spiking is a myth.:( It happened to me once, fortunately my escort stopped anything happening. Last thing I remember is the bartender delivering my drink, then waking up the next morning. I pay more attention to my drink now.
Indeed. Was not a pleasant evening on either occasion.
Especially as on hers, Nat came on to me. And no I didn't. Hadn't twigged about the possible Roofie at that point, but I wasn't as smashed as she was, and much as I would, it's not right to take advantage. Doubly glad now (didn't twig until the morning, and she couldn't remember a thing).
Makes me wonder if roofies are doing the rounds in town. Might have to send out a warning on FB.

Then a few weeks later, having nobly saved several thousand imperial citizens, the ruling class demanded a say in the running of the fleet (my fleet mark you), further demanding their voices be heard.
So I agreed, made Gronk my seneschal, and let them air their grievances to him directly, as my appointed representatives.
Sadly, the silly buggers didn't get the hint. So I void walked the lot of them. Whilst we were in warp transit.....

I thought that might've been the case. Or more disparaging of Swindon...
So I work at a supermarket, and this is a good summary of it:
http://youtu.be/Co61xOPLNaw
Got to be ridiculously sarcastic to a customer today as he was trying to do a dodgy putting everything through as carrots, and I was standing there next to him but out of uniform as I was on break. Thing is they're set to trigger if you have three of the same thing, so the alert popped up and I took off my jacket and was all "Hi, how's it going?" and rifling through his stuff and being super over-polite "Oh, it says carrots, but these bananas aren't carrots, and neither are these prawns... and this meat has a barcode for a 200ml platic tub stuck to it... why, there are no carrots in here at all but it says three lots on here!?"
He of course went "oh, yeah, I don't know how that happened..." so I super psycho-happily beamed at him "yeah, it's a real mystery all right" ^_^ then scanned through all his stuff and stood next to him and made him pay ($40 vs the $20 he almost got away with).
A-hole.

It is just people that befoul the system and try and go the wrong way round.

Exactly, theory and reality...
Wolfshade
08-16-2013, 01:56 AM
The theory is sound it is people that are the problem and they are easily fixed.
It is like in fire simulators you have one person that runs around in circles that is able to block people from leaving if they are in the right place, indeed they can even end up creating a circle pit dragigng easily influenced near by people.

A circle pit in a burning building? That's the most metal thing since the bloke crowdsurfing in a wheelchair?
Don't people in fire simulators have a tendency to head towards labelled fire exits even if the actual normal exit is nearer/clear?
Wolfshade
08-16-2013, 02:12 AM
The majority do, but in (nearly) all sims there is a person that panics and runs in circles and depending on where they spawn can actually keep everyone blocked in a burning building/vehicle

Socialism: You have 2 cows and you give one to your neighbor.
Communism: You have 2 cows; the Government takes both and gives you some milk.
Fascism: You have 2 cows; the Government takes both and sells you some milk.
****sm: You have 2 cows; the Government takes both and shoots you.
Bureaucratism: You have 2 cows; the Government takes both, shoots one, milks the other and throws the milk away..
Traditional Capitalism: You have 2 cows. You sell one and buy a bull. You herd multiplies, and the economy grows. You sell them and retire on the income.
An American Corporation: You have 2 cows. You sell one, and force the other to produce the milk of four cows. Later, you hire a consultant to analyze why the cow dropped dead.
A French Corporation: You have 2 cows. You go on strike because you want three cows.
Japanese Corporation: You have 2 cows. You redesign them so they are one-tenth the size of an ordinary cow and produce twenty times the milk. You then create a clever cow cartoon image called Cowkimon and market them Worldwide.
An Italian Corporation: You have 2 cows, but you don't know where they are. You break for lunch.
A Swiss Corporation: You have 5000 cows. None of which belong to you. You charge others for storing them.
Chinese Corporation: You have 2 cows. You have 300 people milking them. You claim full employment, high bovine productivity, and arrest the newsman who reported the numbers.
An Iraqi Corporation: Everyone thinks you have lots of cows. You tell them that you have none. No one believes you and they bomb your arse. You still have no cows, but at least now you are part of a Democracy.......
Counter Culture: 'Wow, dig it, like there's these 2 cows, man, grazing in the hemp field. You gotta have some of this milk!'
Surrealism: You have two giraffes. The government requires you to take harmonica lessons.
Apathyologism: You have 2 cows. You do not care.
Fatalist: You have 2 doomed cows...
Atheism: You have 2 cows. There is no God.
A West-Country Corporation: You have 2 cows. That one on the left is kinda cute.
A Brazilian Corporation: You have 2 cows. You pay taxes for 6 cows. You have to sell one cow in order to pay the taxes. Your remaining cow gets sick and dies while waiting for availability in the public vet hospital.
Russia: You have two cows. Since they are both female, if you happen to keep them in the same stable you will pay a 5,000 rouble fine for homosexual propaganda.
PETA: You have two cows. You kill them both. You then use naked women to convince other people that killing cows is wrong.
Moffat: You have two cows. Both of them are your daughters time traveling from the past where they had a brief love affair with Da Vinci making you the rightful Queen of England. As you assume the throne, you throw them off a building.
Hussie: You have 2 cows. You ask for another one. Instead of getting just 1 cow, you get 2,485,506 cows.
Romney: You have 2 cows. You are not the president of the united states.
Once-ler: You have 1 cow. Everyone decides to make 5 different versions of that cow.
Old Spice: You have 2 cows. The cows are now diamonds. I'm on a horse.
An Irish Corporation: You have a million cows because they're everywhere
Tumblr: You have 2 cows. You ship them together and make GIF posts screaming about how much you love your cows, but they should stop existing because they are so perfect.
Also Tumblr: I give you a hamburger.
Cows: The **** you go through.

I've found a couple I want to look round, though I need to sell mine first, before I do any serious shopping.
A lot depends on a) how much I get for my house, and b) how much the bank will give me.

I think I partially helped to birth the Rending Pony thing.
It was prior to an Eldar Codex release, and they were wanting Rending on everything. Couple of cool peeps on Warseer cottoned on, and one of the mock demands became Rending Ponies.
No idea if it was original at that point, but it's the first time I remember hearing about it.

Unless it is imperial sanctioned, in which case it is ok.
I heard a rather succint summary of the issue that "the west" has with the Egyptian situation. "The problem is that the liberals are not democratic and the democrats are not liberal".

Obviously.:p But I like to hold miniatures with one hand and paint with the other and it's hard to hold even a light miniature steady when your arm is very sore. I'm someqhat ambidextrous but not enough to paint proficiently.

Back in Spring of 2004, my last year working for GW, I used to play roller hockey nights and some weekend days. One day I went into the wall funny with an opposing player, put my forearm up to cushion the impact, and caught a metal pole right at the edge of my elbow pad. My arm around the elbow swelled up like crazy and turned almost black. It was weeks before I had full motion without pain again. The day after I hurt it, my manager at GW shows up with a box of sprues and we had to paint an entire army for a Games Day event. Every brush stroke was torture.

I think if we watch Tomorrow's World there would be all kinds of tech that we should have by now.
Indeed, I blame the resolution of the cold war for the lack of a proper permanent moon colony and manned trips to mars.
In other news a charity I setup had an anonmyous donation last night of £25k so it can start it's project, still with 3 years(ish) to fund so might even be able to reach it's stretch goals.

Unfortunately it isn't my BA replacement fund it is the Bell restoration fund.
But exciting times, we haven't officially had our launch party yet. Though with about 50% of the funds needed already it makes it very much easier to get more donations as people don't like to be the initial backer and grants as the project is viable.
