as always, take rumours for what they are, but i thought this was very solid info, so i thought i would share.

SPECIALIST GAMES:
--------------------
was chatting to a manager at GW today, he said there were lots of emails going around, but from the sounds of it specialist games will be re-done and released in the same style as dreadfleet, expect bloodbowl in the last quarter of the year.

2013 - bloodbowl
2014 - necromunda/mordhiem
2015 - a whole re release of battlefleet gothic

inquisitor is likely not getting re done due to finecast not able to do models of that size and maintain a decent quality.

GAMESDAY:
------------

after the stuff about the specialist games, i dug a little deeper about all the gamesday cancellations, this info is quite accurate as its from one of the higher ups.

so gamesday is costing to much money, the past 2 years it is said that they have only broken even, so it is not financially able to run a gamesday every year. Australia will cop the worst of this due to the venue in sydney city and the cost of getting all the supplies and everything from the UK outstrips anywhere else in the world.

This been said gamesday is going to shift over the next couple of years. it is going to probably be on a rotating style, with the exception of the UK and USA, they will always have gamesdays every year, with the only changes in the US being that they will rotate different states each year. the more expensive or hard to reach countries will likely be put on a three year rotation, meaning they will only see a gamesday every 3 years, (again possibly Australia and new zealand).

This way they save money and we still are able to consistently get a gamesday cycle happening.

as i said, these are all subject to change and take it as a rumor, it came up today so i thought i would post.

Part of the problem with Games Day in my opinon is this stupid No Leaks thing that GW have going. Take the last UK one for example:

Forge World turned up with cabinets full of works in progress and soon to be released figures and had a load of figures in limited quantities that could be bought on the day that would not be for sale for weeks or months afterwards from their web store, plus all their artists, writers and sculptors to answer questions and sign things.

Black Library turned up with limited edition books and loads of other titles that would not be on shop shelves for months to come, plus a load of their authors and such to sign things and answer questions.

Games Workshop showed up with... nothing other than what was already on shop shelves and a bunch of Design Studio guys that couldn't say anything about what they were working on and what was in the works. They wonder why they aren't making money, but they are hardly giving people a reason to buy their products. Would it kill them to adjust their release schedule so that on the day pre-orders go up for a new release, it is Games Day and you could get your new figures that week earlier. Bet they'd clear some stock then. As it is if they are offering nothing more than what can be bought in any of their stores or their website, then people will spend their cash on things they can't already get.

Even if it was a limited edition game, I'd eat up a new Epic boxed game, even if it was like a man o' war to dreadfleet kinda thing. I expect GW could do really amazing 6mm stuff nowadays.

Forgeworld have had some WIP of Titans shown recently, so maybe that is the direction the Specialist Games are going - especially with the success of the HH.......

I would definitely pick up a self contained epic or battle fleet game and possibly the others too.

Epic or battle fleet set in 30K would be awesome
