I love it! I particularly like the way the blood splatter contrasts with the clean white and blue of their armor. It's particularly striking with the more "normal" looking chaos marines, though it looks nice on the "Chaos-y" ones, too.

Two things you might want to consider:

1) Rather than using a blood red color, I use a swirl (not really a mix, don't let them fully combine, just swirl them together) of bright red and brown, which I then blow-splatter onto my minis. This creates a nice effect where some of the blood stains are brown-red, which makes them look old and crusted on, and others are bright red, which makes them look brand new.

2) After the matte varnish, I go back over the models with a tiny brush and some Tamiya Clear Red. It's an enamel-like, extremely translucent cherry red paint. Dab that wherever the red marks are thickest (you won't be able to control where that is, but since it looks like you also use some kind of splatter technique, you probably know that already) and it will dry with a red, sticky-looking finish. It makes the "fresh" splatter look extra fresh, and contrasts nicely with the rest of the matte finish. And, since it's basically an enamel, you don't need to worry about it chipping off.

I used these techniques to a pretty good effect (if-I-do-say-so-myself-and-I-do) with my Legion of Everblight. I'll post pics once I get my stupid iPhone to the stupid apple store and fix its stupid camera.

Yeah I like em, proper blood thirsty. EP advice is good and will add a touch extra realism to the splatter. It will give a bit of variation to the blood making some look more arterial. The varnish will give it a nice wet look too. I like the different mix of armours you have going on too, intentional or not it makes the army look like they have scavenged everything they can lay their hands on like any good chaos warband would :)

Cheers guys, I'll definitely be trying out those techniques next time! and as for the armour my intention was that the basic marines did not receive much care
or attention they were more interested in blood than cleanliness and only the chosen and lord had their armour and weapons maintained and taken care of :P
My next project though is hopefully gonna be Tau as that was the first army I played back in the day!
