Hi all.
I was just wondering what size boards does everyone play for apocalypse size games?
Cheers

For my Apoc games, I consider 8'x7' as the minimum size, preferring something around 12' x 7'. I don't like Apoc games where both sides are as packed as possible with models, with only 24" between you, and your only option is to fire all weapons and crash into the other line. I like the additional depth to allow for units to actually maneuver a little bit. I say 7' is about the best depth you can get, a 3 1/2 foot reach is about the best you can accomplish when moving models in the middle of the table. That being said, I have seen plenty of 3000 - 5000 point games on tables that are only a little bigger than standard, like 8'x4'. I even saw a 10000 point per side game the other day on the standard 6'x4', way to crowded IMO.

It all depends on the size of the Apocalypse game, don't forget you can play Apocalyspe rules at 3000 points and that can still fit on a 6'x4' table.

Thanks guys.
We currently play on a standard 6' x 4' and it just feels a little bit too squashed for me and the next battle will probably be nearer 4000 with lots of tanks.
8' x 7' sounds like a good size, and I feel the same that its nice to have a bit more room to play about with different manouvres and formations. The additional problem though is finding the space to set up this size of board at home!

One of the problems is that with larger boards it can become a bit of a hassel to try and move miniatures in the centre, especially if there are large (titan-size) things towards the edges to try and lean over. You could do a couple of boards and have them linked by a bridge or some such

I play on a table tennis table using citadel battlemats. 6'x4' for standard, the entire 9'x5' for apoc. I tend to be heavy on veh and light on troops, as 1. they die easy and 2. It brings points, explosions and all the good sh*t and turns it up to 11.5.

Doing this, 9' x 5' is fine.

I personally think a 4' wide table is still the way to go. It allows you to avoid having too many units just sitting there rolling dice. The narrower table forces all of your units into the fight that much more.

Just like the Siegfried line
