I am returning to 40K after a 9 year absence and was given some plastic terminators for painting a friend's Space Hulk genestealers--and they came with medium bases. Is this the standard for terminators now? Do I have to rebase my old terminators?
Thanks--the Rip Van Winkle of 40K

Yes, and maybe. GW has Up-Sized the bases on their new Terminators. This allows for some more dynamic posing, and a slight height increase with the current plastic line. As for re-basing your old ones, few will bat an eye in friendly games, but you may run into problems in more competitive environments. I've heard many just glue the old ones, base and all to the larger bases, and call it good.

That also makes them about the right height.

Actually I believe the most accepted convention (and GW tourney - maybe FAQ) is that models must be used on the bases supplied so old terminators are fine on the smaller bases. Old terminators would also be fine on larger bases. Putting the new terminators on smaller bases is a no thought. This has been in a BoLs Thread before.

If you want to put the terminators on 40mm bases without paying for a large number of 40mm bases, go get some poker chips and glue them to the smaller bases. They are exactly the same size, and a layer of spackle or your favorite basing material makes them nearly indistinguishable from the real thing.
