Interestingly the Svartalfar, or Svartálfaheimr are synonomys with dwarfs

More commonly known as Black or Dark Elves.

The better name for Dwarves is Dvergar.

You also spelt synonymous wrong.

Hasn't Iron Man 3 already opened here? Not really been paying attention but I thought it opened on the 18th?

After Loki cuts the hair of Mrs. Thor, doesn't he then say that he will get the svartafar to make her a wig, he then goes to the sons of Ivaldi who make the wig and some other junk to boot, but the ivaldi are dwarfs not dark elfs.

The svartalfar are mentioned only in the Prose Edda which seems to use the term to also mean dwarf, suggesting that the dark elves were in fact dwarfs, or vice versa
