This looks to be a rather interesting project to produce a range of 1' x 1' modular moulded plastic battle tiles, similar to Games Workshop's Realm of Battle boards (though those are 2' x 2' in size) along with matching scenery and bases to go with them. It started today with a goal of raising $80k for the first themed set (Scrap Yard), and it is at $52k already with 29 days to run. Every 80k it raises will unlock another themed set of boards/terrain/bases etc.

Not at all bad, 190usd for a 6x4 board. Not sure they look as durable as the RoB boards but then they are cheaper.

And in under 2 days they have reached the $80,000 dollar funding. I hope they get to the $160k mark to produce the urban streets tiles! I would love that set.

Realm of battleboard is about £130 with discount so on conversion these are £10 cheaper and as they are smaller tiles possibly a bit more flexibility in lay out so i may invest but i would want the plain fields or city most likely and if i have to wait till the end of the year maybe 2 years before i get my purchase that makes the value of the ROB a bit better.

£18 8x4 MDF = 8x4 board! You still need scenery for it and while it is nice I don't think I'd go for one.

You can't really compare the two. Self-made will nearly always be cheaper but it won't be as durable and it takes a lot more time to produce and time is something many people do not have in abundance. Kits like the RoB and these Tablescape boards are a boon for older hobbyists with restricted time and also games clubs. We spend a lot less time on terrain repair in our club now thanks to RoB boards.

Sadly way far too outside my price-range but very cool. Shame they don't have a level to just buy one single board though, I'd probably be able to afford that.
