Hi,

Now that Fire Warriors can take EMP grenades I have a question. Since they are assault one does that mean a single FW can throw a grenade at the tank they intend to assault during the shooting phase, then all FWs use EMP grenades in the assault phase against the tank? Meaning a 12 man FW squad can use a potential total of 13 EMP grenades in 1 turn?

Sorry, but being Tau I haven't used offensive grenades much.

Eh... if your fire warriors are standing out in the open and don't have anything to shoot at, you've kind of already screwed up. The fact that they could theoretically assault a tank to death... once they've done that, what will you do with them? They'll be standing there, next to the wreck of a tank, just begging to be shot of the board. Don't forget, you need those buggers to claim objectives.

If you want to kill tanks, the answer is railgun. Or fusion blaster. Or ion weapon, if it's a light vehicle. Ooh! Or ion accelerator if it's a heavy vehicle! Strength 9 + Ordnance + AP 2 is a great combination. Or...

I think you get my point.

personally, if ur gonaa take a FoF warrior squad you should put grenades on them. They already have photon grenades so get stealth if they are in cover and the enemy are 8" away, which is likely if they are in a devilfish that gets popped. In which case, the emp grenades are useful since a good way to contest objectives is to use vehicles.

I don't argue that EMP grenades aren' a great upgrade. I just think it's misguided to depend on them as a strategy. They're a useful trick to pull out of your back pocket - not an intelligent use of Fire Warriors' strengths and weaknesses.

Also, I think fire warrior fish of fury may have just gotten pwned by pathfinder fish of fury. Fish of fury? But a Scout redeploy to get into position? With three rail rifles? And a pulse drone? And (most importantly) NOT with a scoring unit? Dude...

I don't think I'd use this as a main tank killing squad, but when you're holding an objective and someone rolls a land raider towards you to contest it then it would be nice to see their faces when you decided to charge them throwing grenades like seeds. I print my army lists and have them with me every time i play, but I think I can count on one hand the number of times my opponent has actually looked over it to see what extras my units have.

True enough. I am scrupulous to demand a full walkthrough of my opponent's army and provide the same upon demand, but I sometimes get the feeling that most of my opponent's aren't really paying attention. More fools they, I suppose.

If EMP grenades are the sole anti-tank, then yes.

However, lets not forget Dreads, and that it is always better to have and not need, than need and not have.

Plus, unless I'm mistaken, you can always throw one in a pinch, which has sneaky surprises all its own!
