The FW Open Day is starting in about an hour so anyone who is there please post your news and such here to make it easier to keep track of.

Anyone who can update on the krieg hades breaching drill and a potential reverse on the nerf they did to the rules would be good if they can view IA12. Any change on the purchasing system would be good to know as I waited for 2-3 hours in a queue last time and the aircon was not up to scratch with the fumes that a few shower dodgers were giving off. Yeah I found a pic of that on Aaron Dembski-Bowden's blog of all places as he and 4 other guys from Black Library/Forge World are doing a Tale of 5 Heretics thing. You can see it here:

These new HH vehicles are all looking like Tau vehicles, especially that Fellblade variant.

It's the smooth curves and the indented lines running around them, they look very similar. That Fellglaive turret almost looks like it could be a Hammerhead turret.

Those Palantines are lovely, I hope the EC also get Fulgrim's Phoenix Guard, it would be great to see them battling Morlock Guard.

Yup, but IA11 had the redeeming virtue of also having the phantom titan, lynx, hornets, wasps, shadow spectres, phoenix lord, warp hunter as well as the corsairs. I was actually looking forward to IA12 if only because it brings a hopefully Dark Eldar laden IA13 closer. Now I'm not sure I want to set myself up for such disappointment.

Glad to see I'm not the only one noticing a slight... "whiff" of familiarity to the land speeder ;)
A lot of nice stuff there though, I admit to having always been a little indifferent to the Heresy range, but I'll never deny they're a nice addition.
In a way I sort of wish Fw would do for 40k what they've been doing for WFB lately - oddities, monsters and mercenaries - be nice to see a bit more of that in 40k (substituting "monsters" for new aliens of any kind).

That Dread Maw is a very tempting "surprise" for my games of Inquisitor :cool:

The Minotaurs list is odd in that there are only HQ and heavy support. But the Minotaurs still have access to virtually the entire FW SM range, Necrons have a handful of things.

Don't misunderstand, I like that hte Minotaurs are getting some attention (classical themed chapters ftw) it's just that Necrons seem to be getting much less attention that even xenos armies usually get. For a book that is ostensibly focusing on war across an entire sector is just seems really sparse.

Yup. Gone with the 'Shark' style missile launcher. Personally I was expecting the old Box Launcher in terms of style, and I'm not entirely sold on this one. However I'm not fussed for Whirlwinds at the best of times, so I guess moot (yes moot, not mute) point is moot (but definitely not mute).

A couple of quick comments from talking to the design team today, have a few pictures to stick up later but i think we've seen all the new stuff by now (did someone post the HH whirlwind? - nevermind :P).

On the land speeder... it was pointed out that the weapon mounts are the same as those found on the predator, so anything available there *could* be attached. They did however note that lascannons may not actually be a valid selection...

I asked a few of the design team about the possibility of Imperial Army miniatures being included but the response wasn't overly positive - hardly suprising but as an IG player i thought i'd ask.

More mechanicus (robots specifically, dread sized or larger) units were aknowledged... smaller models (skitarii etc) probably not, for now.

Theres at least one more Fellblade variant to come after the glaive. Not sure if the glaive is in the first book but thats one seriously large volkite weapon.

The new lightning model was a byproduct of the avenger design process... he's not expecting to redo the thunderbolt or put out another navy flyer any time soon.

IA vol 3 second edition (updated to include all FW Tau with 6th ed rules) was on display, should be out in a few months. Presumably this means vol 2 is out very soon? They couldn't confirm, suspicious...

The minotaur dread-character has a unique looking assault cannon in some of the artwork but the model displayed had a plasma cannon. Not sure if this means options are included, someone with access to the book might confirm?

I heard the same conversation thats already been mentioned about Fulgrim being complete and coming next - designer said he and Ferrus are fighting each other? Not sure if he meant to imply that they're a diorama style set or if they are just modelled as though they are engaged in combat.

The heavy volkite weapons haven't been modelled yet apparently so i wouldn't expect them soon.

I notice that Page 115 is "Dedicated Transports" for Necrons....but no models listed for that section.....Does this mean that there are none (and if there are none then why even have a section for them), or is the ToC is incorrect...

right notes from FW open day.

the two praetor models (one in Cataphractii terminator armour with paragon blade and volkite charger, other in artificer armour with paragon blade and archotech pistol) was sent off for production 2 weeks ago; so should be on sale within the month.

talking to alan blight, looks like massacre and isstavan 5 prt 2 are being worked on together as a single project. massacre will be out for gamesday uk this year. with prt2 (mention name "extermination" but still undecided) out early 2014 (jan-feb)

legion Tartaros pattern terminators on display. not much difference other than the crux terminatus not on the shoulder, but kit comes with a reaper autocannon instead of heavy flamer.


all legions has a single power armoured marine design painted already. mostly to fix their colour schemes in advance. alpha legion scheme is epic.

everything else i can think off is covered already.

EDIT: forgot. they released their new updated catalogue at the event as well. had LUNA WOLVES brass etchings and transfer sheet in it. can only guess should pads and vehicle doors will follow soon after.

mh not that I'm thrilled but it might have been worse... no new Super Heavy is a huge disappointment of course but three new special characters, variants on about half the units and some of the other new stuff sounds pretty cool (wondering what a Tomb Sentinel in Fast Attack might be...)

The Tomb Sentinel, Charnel Lychguard and HQ stuff (That royal court would be nice..) gives me some hope there might still be some more necron stuff to come. Not really been that impressed by whats been shown so far - compared to what Eldar got in the last one. Gotta agree with Tyrendian too - was hoping for a new super heavy as well.

Looks like a close combat version of the Tomb Stalker (or a WIP one without any guns on yet, at least) with a phase shifter. And a... reinforced spine? Don't know what that's about. The different head might be significant as well, given the name "Sentinel," maybe it's extra-sense-y?

I see that they have remembered that most of the conversions from Rogue trader were based on Tomy Zoid toys - that cannon on the 'glaive is a blatant rip off of the shouder cannon of Gore (http://www.google.co.uk/search?q=gore+the+lord+protector&hl=en&source=lnms&tbm=isch&sa=X&ei=uoBiUdq5C8Wk0AXOr4GoBg&ved=0CAcQ_AUoAQ&biw=1366&bih=597) -

Not really. The barrel is similar but far from identical and the shaft (teehee) is similar but an octagonal profile is hardly unique. The FW version has a secondary barrel thing nestled in the angled canopy while Gore has two missile heads sticking out, the FW version has coil things at the base of the shaft, cabling down the side and some kind of coil thing on the top all lacking on the zoid model.

You might as well argue any gun with a cylindrical barrel is a rip off of earlier firearms with cylindrical barrels.

My point was that every now and again Zoid 'inspired/similar' parts pop up - the walls of many a space hulk were part Zoid, as was Tony Cottrells original 'scout titan' not to mention that some of the RT conversions, with Zoid parts, are so iconic that they have been copied verbatim into the HH Visions books with parts that are easily identified as Zoid.

My point with the 'glaive is that the shape of the end of the barrel is very reminiscent of the end of Gores shoulder launcher – not the entire Zoid.

I've not seen anyone mention a time frame for it, given that IA12 just went up for pre-order around December 2011/January 2012 if I remember I doubt we will see IA13 unless they really step up their pace. Which they only seem to be doing with HH stuff.

I asked Forge World at Salute about the big land speeder. It's a new unit that will appear in the next HH book 'Massacre'. Fluff wise, it is designed to back up a squadron of jetbikes.
