Hey all, just thought I would share these two converted models - more kit-bash than anything, but I had to get a lot of different bits to do them. Neither of them are painted, just an FYI. I've had a lot of positive reception to them - mostly because they are sleek and restrained more than anything else I guess - so I thought, why not?

The first is my 'Arkos Reborn', based on Arkos the Faithless but using Abaddon's rules. Given I am using a Faithless warband, he's eventually going to be a in kind of darkish blue with white. I was inspired to make a centre-piece commander for my army, given I have a lot of Chaos Lords/Sorcerers/Ahriman but none of them stood out as the real 'leader' of my warband. Ergo, Abaddon stood out, but as I hate the stock model (too small), I decided to make my own. Using the plastic Terminator Chaos Lord as a base, I borrowed a Grey Knight Nemesis Force Sword and spliced it with daemon horns to give the impression that not only had it been daemonically possessed (a daemon weapon fitting for a true lord of Chaos) but in particular it had been dominated by a daemon of Slaanesh, given both sets of horns are curved upwards to form half-crescent moons. The top of the blade I am a bit iffy on, but I justify it as a 'mandible' fitting of Slaanesh weaponry. The lightning claw was easy; I attached a cut-up Grey Knight storm-bolter on to represent Abaddon's combi-bolter. Kitting the model out with the cloak, loincloth (is that they are called?) and shoulder pads/knee guards depicting the Eye of Horus and the eight-pointed star was an easy choice. The skull racks were also obvious, as was the choice of helmet. To really give the impression that he was a truly powerful Chaos Lord and, given the Black Crusader Warlord trait - which I explain as he is a metaphorical 'fountain', inspiring unholy hatred against the Loyalists - I used an undivided Chaos Icon to really make the character both look imposing and stand out amongst the crowd. I've yet to meet anyone that thinks my 'Arkos Reborn' is not a good stand in for Abaddon, so I must have done something right!

The second is 'Talos', the character from the Night Lords books. Well, not really; I made him using spare bits I had won at the time for buying some stuff and just did what I thought would be cool. Turned out quite a few people referred to him as Talos, but I can't comment as I haven't read the books. Anyway, I had a Night Lords helmet to use on a jump-pack lord - no big surprise. The base model was a Raven Guard - apparently the Traitors scavenge all kinds of fancy stuff - and his axe is a Blood Angels axe (scavenged as well I guess) which I usually use as the Axe of Blind Fury. To do the 'wings' on the jump pack - what I thought would really suit a Night Lord Chaos Lord - I had some unassembled Reaver Jetbikes lying around, and used some of the bits to do that. Given the running pose of the model - as I usually use him, fittingly, as a Khorne Lord, he needed to look bloodthirsty and eager to charge - I thought of making him look truly berserk/enraged; a pistol or some-such wouldn't cut it. I had a lot of spare Dark Eldar. Voila! I cut the Wych head's hair just above the knot and stuck them either side, with the Wych head literally being held at the hair to intimate a recent butchering. Effectively, the model is posed to have just landed, have recently killed a bunch of Dark Eldar, and be crazy/scary enough to carry around a trophy whilst proceeding to run into more enemies.

What do you think? Sorry I didn't get an over-shot image for the Raptor Lord by the way; I did have a few, but the size was too big (probably because they were the best quality ones unfortunately lol).
