Hey gang, trying to squeeze 3 of these into my 1850 list if possible and want to know if they are worth it. It would be replacing 1 of 3 Annihilation barges as well as a night scythe the contains 10 deathmarks and a Cryptik despair. I figure with his veil, no need to dive them out of a flyer when I currently have 2 flyers carrying troops around as it is.

depends on the rest of the list... do you run some scarabs? if so then spyders can work really well - one fun thing to try out once might be a full "scarab farm", i.e. 9 spyders pooping out scarabs all game. Without scarabs to add bases to, I don't like spyders too much since they kinda lack mobility and don't really do too much the rest of the army can't do better (like busting tanks - we have gauss for that... or tarpitting something - we have said scarabs for that...).
Just my opinion though - feel free to try them out!

The ONLY thing i consider Scarabs for is the slight improvement in Psychic defense with the Gloom Prism but ultimately no unless, as stated above, your'e going for the full Scarab Farm.
