Looks like he beat up Thor and stole Mjolnir...

Pretty cool. I was beginning to think BL had almost forgotten about him.

Your point being? We all knew he survived Istvaan. It's most definitely the Ronseal of HH titles.

I just find the title amusing, a la Frankenstein's monster. :p

It will be nice to flesh him out. Might actually get this one.

Given we know almost nothing about Vulkan or his role in the Heresy, I think this may be a must-have. Nick Kyme is the Salamanders Guy, too.

What? I don't even know how you came to that conclusion...

on his knees clutching a wounded soldier, staring at the sky brandishing his weapon? very hammy. I bet if it had audio it would be going 'Nooooooooooooooo!'

One of the rare HH books I donīt eager to read it ... Salamanders, Iron Hands, Raven Guard all pretty boring. Nick Kyme isnīt my favorite author anyway, read the sm-battles book with the necrons, it was boring too. But since I read all HH books, I will read this one too, perhaps it is interesting - I give it a chance!

However, the title and book are beautifully ironic.

I'm confused, is this after Vulkan disappeared? I thought he hadn't shown up since the Heresy, yet this is a Heresy-era book? Forgive me if I am missing something obvious, I only just woke up haha.

In the HH series he's been missing presumed dead since Isstvan. He's one of the Primarchs, like Russ, who "left" their sons in the aftermath of the Heresy. The Salamanders believe he'll return if they recover all his sacred artifacts (which is what Hestan's job is).

i thought Russ went into the eye to get magnus? Ran in screaming is what i was told.

It's ok, but not gripping.

Personally love the artwork, cliche or not I think it's quite cool. It could be that the legionary he is holding isn't just a nobody but a charector integral to the story in the book, hench his righteous anger etc etc :)

I think you mean delightfully cliche. The only thing that could make it better is a half naked woman clutching his leg.

lol true. I do like the details of the piece, the pose just made me laugh. I look forward to reading the book anyway.

Well, it would improve the awfully generic space marine with a primach cover...

Why is the dead space marine's leg on top of Vulkan's leg? If he had been carrying it, then why put its leg on his? And why suddenly stop to scream at the sky?

Surely the corpse's legs would have both been on the floor. Unless it had been flying through the air and has just hit Vulkan?

Maybe Vulkan got drunk at the Pre Istvaan party, and has just woken up to see who he was lying next to.

Or he was carying him and as he expired he drops to one knee and shouts to the sky?

Why would you drop someone you ware carrying onto your knee, why not place them down gently? Vulkan was one of the more caring Primarchs.

Yeahhhh.... coupled with the fact that the two are in isolation in the portrait without any other sense of scale present, it really looks like an adult cradling a child that just fell out of a tree. I love the Primarchs being giants among Giants, but I think that this may have taken it too far; else the pose just throws off the wrong effect.
