Well, in the previous codex (counting the new one as the current one) even though our Troops were over-costed the lack of necessary upgrades or transports meant that Daemon armies tended to have a lot of models in them. From what I can gather, it seems our Troops have gone down in points, meaning that a true daemonic horde may be more viable. However, as always, we have to wait and see the full rules before we can judge accurately! Generally speaking though, each of the Troops choices tends to be at home in decent to big numbers - Bloodletters and Daemonettes need the 'meat' to get into combat without losing too much combat effectiveness, whilst Plague Bearers are better for objective-sitting in bigger groups whilst Horrors will apparently need the bigger squads to get higher mastery levels. Plaguebearers are probably the only unit that doesn't need decent numbers (i.e. 10+) to function effectively.

God is not on the side of the big battalions, but on the side of those who shoot best.

Simples..

I'd suggest waiting to see how the rules change in five days time.

Well, I also this is simples, without quoting some poxy french philosopher! Multiples of 6 for Slaanesh, Multiples of 7 for Nurgle, Multiples of 8 for Khorne, and Multiples of 9 for Tzeentch. You know it makes sense!

I'd lend my weight to Denzark's comment: go with multiples of the God's number. It just feels right!

My preferences would be 12 for Slannesh, 21 for Nurgle, 8 for Khorne, and as many as your collection allows for Tzeentch!

Good call Kispal, I'd say if you want bigger units of Slannesh and Tzeench but still want to use the specific god's number multiple, you could go with 18 (since it's a multiple of 6 and 9) and 16 for Khorne. And for those Horrors, I think with that unit size of 18 will help them with their psychic powers or whatever.

An important note with Pink Horrors is that a unit of ten needs to lose all ten models, otherwise it will keep firing at full fire efficiency :D That and coupled with Heralds with the Exalted Locus and Prescience, they can do decent damage - the trick with them is focus-firing on one unit at a time to wipe them out. Perhaps not amazingly ideal, but hey, they aren't as bad as people thought they were going to be at first glance.

full 20 for battle active units,
10 for objective holders
