Afternoon.

So yeah, Black Library have me by the short and curlies, and I need to get me an E-Reader so I can, you know, E-read E-book and E-Short Stories and E-That.

But what to get? There seems to be dozens out there, and I'm all at sea when it comes to tech choice!

Ideally, needs to be wireless internet enabled!

Don't get a Kindle Fire. Their is no way to remove adverts from them without being an American. So it will constantly be playing adverts.

But a default kindle...thats a great ebook

But how does one then get the books onto it without 3G and that?

Or all the Kindle's wireless?

I believe all the newest Kindles have at least wifi access in them . Some of the top line ones have 3G.

Got bored and did some research (i may also be in the market)

A Default Kindle has wifi. Enough memory for 1400 books. £69

Kindle Paperweight has a white screen making it clearer to read, but adds £40 to price

And top end, Paperweight 3G has wifi and 3G connection, but is £169

Kindle fires are full colour and start at 129, act more like a tablet, but you can only remove adverts if the account on it is registered to an address and credit card registered in the US

You could have brought the advert free version but at extra £££.

With a Kindle there is either 3G + wireless, or just Wireless. Wireless works like any other device, so you hook it up to a hotspot and download through there. The Kindle 3G is a great service though, as it has no fees or whatnot so the only expense is the initial outlay and you're not tied to needing to have a wireless connection (duh). If you do buy a kindle and have any problems there is a separate service line jut for them distinct from Amazon's regular customer service and they're very good.

Another investment would be a file converter, so if you download a non-kindle format you can upload it and read it, or still use your kindle books when they eventually go the way of the dodo. And once you buy a book back it up off of the Kindle as Amazon can remotely delete books which has happened a few times when publishers have screwed up releasing titles they didn't have digital rights for.
