Hello - been around the block a few times as I started my hobby addiction with Andy Murkin and Nick Henfrey's "Spacefarers" put out by GW in 1981. Yes that long ago.
If you've never heard of it I'm not surprised - but here's the rub - it predated Rogue Trader and introduced the Bolt gun.

Also owned/run epicast and worked under copyright with GW in the kinder/gentler old days before the "corporate view of life"

Cheers Nick

You should jump in! The water is fine and gaming is a blast these days! Find a good group of like minded gamers, avoid the power-gamers and WAAC types and you'll be back on the road to gaming bliss! Cheers! Cope

So is that something that made it to the US even then?

Welcome to the forums mate :).
As Chris said, just jump in and grab a few games, I am really enjoying 6th ed myself and as long as you can find some like minded people who don't smell funny and turn into rules lawyers as soon as they look like they may lose you will have a blast.
Toss some dice and drink a few beers, war gaming is still fun.
As for 6th specifics, Many are saying that 6th is a shooting game now, don't let that dissuade you from a CC orientated army though, they can still do very well. Flyers are newish. They 1st came out towards the end of 5th and were redone for 6th. Fortifications and allies are new to 6th too, aegis Defense line is a great addition to any list, I recommend one. Oh and watch out for Necrons with lots of flyers.

Once again welcome to BoLS matey.

Deadlift, my man, it is my goal to one day play a game with you face-to-face! You are always so reasonable in every post! You seem like a fellow who has a perfectly sensible attitude about this hobby of ours! Please let me know if you ever visit Texas: we need to get in a game, mate! Cope

Thanks Chris :o

I think us older folks are quite like minded in that for us wargaming is just about having fun, were not quite so "intense" about it all. If I ever head to your side of the pond and end up in your area you will surely know about it :) l would love to grab a beer and roll some dice sometime .
