That is a carefully worded story in wired.

Notice it simply says that Relic was a Warhammer 40,000 developer.

While true (so was Vigil), that's not what SEGA purchased. In the legal documents of the THQ auction, they specifically purchased the studio and THQ's IP of the Company of Heroes game.

Warhammer 40,000 isn't mentioned anywhere. Now with SEGA independently licensing the Warhammer Fantasy universe a couple of months ago - its possible they could just licence the 40k part from GW, and then give it to Relic to do something with.

I'd hardly be surprised if that occurred.

But then again, that Marine Sonic might be a hint...
