I've been hearing daily (it seems like) about how big a scandal his imaginary girlfriend is. Why is anyone reporting on this? Who gives a flying fart? Whether Manti Te'o lied or was duped ... WHO CARES?!! The guy is a linebacker for Christ's sake! His job is Human Shield. He is a meat brick. There is never going to be a situation where someone turns to him screaming, "MANTI!! It's all gone to HELL! We need you to make the hard decision! WHAT SHOULD WE DO!!!! SAVE US, MANTI!! SAVE US!!!!!!!"

Yeah, figured you guys on the other side wouldn't have heard much about this. Mostly this was for all the true-blue, red blooded molesters of the English language here on BoLS. I cannot seem to get away from this story, no matter how hard I try. It leaves me shaking my head and wondering, "Seriously? Have we nothing better to do?"

The other day I heard someone saying this incident could make him ineligible for the Heisman Trophy. How does him either being duped, lying about a made up girlfriend or otherwise spinning a really bad yarn to embellish his background make him any less an effective meat brick? People need to get some fudging perspective on life.

Hey Necron? While I do agree the media coverage is ridiculous...you're lack of football (american) knowledge is showing. The linebacker is not a human meat shield. The linebacker is the human freight train whose duty is to ruin the offense's day. Meatshields are, for the most part, the linemen (offense or defense) and the Tight End (Offense.)

You know what's even worse? I have to ask you which instance of this you're talking about. Right off the bat, I know of two in the US. In one, the girl hung herself. In the other, she stepped in front of a train.
