So, I play Battlefleet Gothic. The Space Marine fleet list is painfully boring - they've only got one battleship option, one cruiser option, and basically the same escort options as the Imperial Navy, except EVEN FEWER. However, Space Marines are my main Imperial army, and I really like the idea of playing in games and campaigns that mix elements of 40k and BFG.

I know that the Imperial Navy sometimes carries Space Marines into battle. I chewed on that and eventually spat out this list.

Primary Detatchment (Space Marines)

HQ
• Librarian w/Terminator Armor

Elites
• 10 Tactical Terminators (2 Cyclonic Missile Launchers, 3 Chainfists)
° Land Raider Crusader

Troops
• 10 Tactical Marines (Plasma Gun, Plasma Cannon), Sergeant w/Power Weapon, Meltabombs, Teleport Homer
° Rhino w/Dozer Blade
• 10 Tactical Marines (Meltagun, Multi-Melta), Sergeant w/Power Weapon, Meltabombs, Teleport Homer
° Rhino w/Dozer Blade

Heavy Support
• Vindicator w/Siege Shield

Secondary Detachment (Imperial Guard)

HQ
• Lord Commissar w/Carapace Armor, Power Weapon

Troops
• Veteran Squad w/3 Plasma Guns

Fast Attack
• Valkyrie w/Heavy Bolters, Lascannon

The lord commissar is meant to represent the admiral of my BFG fleet, who accompanies the Space Marines down to the surface alongside his most experienced crewmen. I plan to use Elysian drop troop models, but give the models and valkyrie an Imperial Navy paint scheme.

The question is, what do you think? Worth investing money in? Going to win me games? Or a semi-fluffy waste of time?

Just a few things to think about...

1. I would consider adding a Stormtalon, if you're playing Space Marines. Another flier couldn't hurt in a semi-fluffy BFG army. If not, you could play Blood Angels and use a Stormraven instead.

2. Think about what you're really going for. If you want to play a mech list, then give the veteran squad a chimera. If you decide to play an infantry list, try and get some more bodies in there. Consider finding the points for another Tactical Squad or some standard Infantry Squads for your IG.

3. As it is, you only have three Troops choices. Scoring units (Troops) are a big thing in 6th Edition. If you could find room for one more Troops unit, your list would be much more viable.

4. You have 10 Tactical Terminators, but the Land Raider Crusader can only fit 16 bodies. That means 8 Terminators, since they're considered "bulky" and count as 2 slots each. If you want to play with shooty Tactical Terminators, they're usually better on foot. You can combat squad the Terminators and split them up into two groups of 5, each with a missile launcher... if that's what you want to do. OR, if you want to include a Land Raider Crusader in your list, drop the squad size down to 5 and make them Assault Terminators. With 2 sets of Lightning Claws and 3 Thunder Hammers/Storm Shields, they pack quite a punch in close-combat and can assault right out of the Land Raider. And if you drop the squad size down to 5, you can make more room for scoring units.

Revised List:

HQ
-Librarian with Terminator Armor: 125 Points

Elites
-5 Assault Terminators (2 Lightning Claws, 3 Thunder Hammers/Storm Shields): 215 Points
-Land Raider Crusader: 250 Points

Troops
-Tactical Squad #1, w/o teleport homer: 205 Points
-Rhino with Extra Armor: 50 Points
-Tactical Squad #2, w/o teleport homer: 205 Points
-Rhino with Extra Armor: 50 Points

Fast Attack
-Stormtalon with Heavy Bolters and Assault Cannon: 130 Points

Heavy Support
-Vindicator w/ Siege Shield: 125 Points

I don't know the IG codex well enough, so I didn't feel like adding all that up haha. Sorry. But you get the idea. Add another Troops choice to your IG and you're good to go.
