I was thinking of doing something similar (DA with SW), but I don't think I could resist taking a Wolf Guard squad and a Command Squad - that way I'd have two champions to duel during enemy deployment...as is tradition when DA meet SW in the field.

Heh. That would be pretty slick.

Any advice from anyone on what I can do with the last 210 points?

Just a quick thing, you can only have 1 heavy support choice on your ally detachment.

On what to add, you don't have a lot of bodies (at least for 2000pts) so I'd try and add in some. At the moment the list seems fragile. I was designing a similar list (SW with DA allies), and here is a few quick suggestions. Firstly Tactical squads are dirt cheap (as long as you don't take upgrades), try running a bare bones squad with attached Tech Marine with Power Field. Remember that the SW will benefit from the 4++, and it'll provide a nice shield for your Grey Hunters. Also, for holding your objectives, some scouts with camo and snipers are brilliant, especially when combined with a Tech Marine's Bolster Defenses ability (They can have 2+ cover saves in ruins without going to ground).

I'd just play around a bit, see what works. It might be useful if we knew your playstyle. What are you trying to achieve?

D'oh! Didn't notice the FO goof. Thanks!

I'll consider those ideas for sure.

I'm a brand new player, so I'm still finding my style niche. I'd love to get to take advantage of cc units though.

Well Thunderwolves are usually fun and competitive (if overused and cheezy). You could take 3, sticking a storm shield on the front one... just means buying a single box too.

To solve your issue with too many heavy choices, could you not just make the SW Primary Detachment? It means you don't get to take your warlord trait on Belial but that's all, I think... If you did that, your 210 points could go on a Rune Priests or two. I like to have one with Jaws and Living Lightening, and another with Divination powers from the main codex, at least.

The Problem of that is that the deathwing no longer count as a troops choice. Belial has to be in the Primary detachment for them to be troops, so he'd be limited to only 1 squad. There is little point in taking Belial in an allied detachment, just take a Librarian/Interrogator-chaplin in terminator armour.

I own a team of 3 thunder wolves with storm shields and one thunder hammer for a total of 270 points.

Ah, I missed that subtlety of Belial - only just getting to grips with DA :)

Me too. Belial is all I have for DA leaders at the moment and a Wolf Lord on a thunderwolf for SWs.
