why the eye protection?

That is not eye protection it is magnafying lenses that fit over regular glasses so I can see clearly within a foot of my head. Such lenses became necessary about 10 years ago as I got older.

Looks good. I think you might want to build up the base coat with two layers. I find t-shirts work well. Highlight with an apron. And finally wash with an Alpaca sweater.

Heh. That sweater is nice though when working in the basement in a Michigan winter.
