storm talon, yay or nay?

As the title says would you guys say the storm talon is good or a bit naff? I am considering getting one. If i did i would run with typhoons on it, just because it looks the best all round load out. All views are welcome so please begin.

I would say it's pretty good. Flyer with lots of firepower for no massive amount of points. I too would go with the Typhoon Missile Launcher, as that way combined with the Assault Cannon it can do well against both vehicles and non-vehicles.

I like them so much that I take ally space marines for my blood angels, and use it to escort my storm raven(s).

The fact that all its weapons are twin-linked means you can jink if you need to and still manage to shoot things.

well, the stock Storm Talon, or Twin-Lascannon are all twin-linked. The Typhoon and Skyhammer Missile Launchers are not.

It's a really good unit. The Skyhammer missiles aren't a bad choice either. Just make sure to take out enemy anti-air (by which I really mean quad-guns and the like) before it comes on, if you can.

Here's a fun trick I've been using. Use Sicarius, give a special rule that allows Outflank to a Tactical Squad in a Rhino, then escort the lot of them with the Stormtalon. Flank attack funtimes!

Clues in what the weapon is called. A Storm Talon can have:

- Twin linked heavy bolters
- Twin linked lascannon
- Typhoon missile launcher

They may have been getting confused, as the old rules for the typhoon were: (S5, AP5, Heavy 2 blast, twin linked). In the new rules it is not

Less than that. Dark Angels and Black Templars still had the old ones until the same FAQ that took their storm shields from "4+, combat only" to "3+, all the time."

I love my Talons, I use 2 both with Sky Hammers. I think they have a more psychological impact than actual potential. I have taken out Daemon princes with them and what not, but they are great as a distraction too, zooming around shouting "shoot me" whilst the rest of my army quietly gets the job done.

We don't have a lot of flyers buzzing around yet luckily, but it's nice to have a Storm Talon to deal with that Helldrake.

Well. It's what vanilla marines get. You can always ally to get the Vendettas, of course. Maybe this should be shelved until the air supplement comes out. Because right now, the Vendetta is straight up broken, and the answer will always be "get Vendettas".

There is also the rumor that the Storm Raven will be available to Codex:Marines as well. Vendetta is definitely a good option if you can afford the compulsory allies requirements to get them.
