Dishonored is currently half price on Steam, does anyone know if it is any good? I know it had good reviews but I'd like to hear something from someone who has actually played it for fun.

I might be able to let you know tomorrow - I don't have it yet but I might pick it up soon - but a lot of people I've talked to/read their comments say it is great fun.
Supposed to be like Deus Ex and Thief.

I've heard it's pretty awesome, though it was mentioned that once you upgrade your Teleport skill high enough the game gets super-easy, as you can simply teleport past guards and the like without having to actually try.

I absolutely loved Dishonored. A very nice Steampunk-ish stealth game that is both challenging and interesting. The plot can be predictable at times but it's still fairly interesting, particularly if you find all the Insider shrines and read the books scattered around to learn more about the setting.

The game is pretty short. I don't keep track of hours but I finished it within the first week I bought it and I'm far from a hardcore gamer.

Wish I'd checked that you could only play as a male character before I bought the game, grumble grumble. Still, it seems ok so far.

only had one play through but I absolutely loved it, will have to have a high chaos play through at some point

I just can't bring myself to do that, whenever I play a game with a good stealth system I always have to be the sneakiest I possibly can. Currently a couple of levels away from a playthrough with no alarms and no kills and incapacitating every guard on every map.

I love the art collecting:

well I have already done a low chaos play through and got the good ending, so I want to try going through killing all the villains. not hapless guard and the like, but thugs, bandits, fanatics etc.

eldargal
01-17-2013, 07:45 AM
I think if you just kill targets and nasty people you still get a low chaos ending, you have to slaughter guards and so all sorts of nastiness to get a high chaos rating. But I could be wrong, I've not tried it myself.:)

I love it, it is very different to anything else you can play at the moment, and worth playing for that alone, but on top of that it is also a fantastic game, some wonderful mechanics, lots of options.

I'm trying to get into Far Cry 3, I'm finding it hard.

As in, I'm finding it hard to like the game.

Godless Zealot
01-17-2013, 04:36 PM
I'm enjoying Far Cry 3 but it definitely has a 'repetitive' feel towards it that reminds me of Assassin's Creed. The whole scaling the towers, knocking out the outposts then onto the sidequests before carrying on with the story etc. Resi 6 I'm only really playing in co-op as one of my friends begged me to and yeah it's a bit dull so far. Much more looking forward to Dead Space 3.....aww another game to buy and play....:o

It was 'meh' It's like a bad ripoff of Thief.
You need to play 'good' or else the game doesn't like you.
Plots a *little* thin in places.
Addition of wierd supernatural anime style goon is plain out of whack and annoying with no real exploration of WHY/ Also you're not the only one.

Kirsten

not played the other dmc's, but the demo for ths one is awesome and I am a big fan of the anime. GOW will be interesting as well. Hated GTA4, very dull, so couldn't care less about 5.

I've played every Devil May Cry so far, love the series. I want to dress up as the new Dante, because he looks ace.

I've even completed them on "Dante Must Die" difficulty. :D

EDIT: Oh, and Heaven and Hell mode on DMC4, that was ridiculously stressful.

Godless Zealot
01-17-2013, 05:13 PM
Played the first DmC way back when but never really been a fan of the hack 'n slash adventure type games, I might give the demo a try though. GTAIV story was certainly duller than previous games. Had countless hours of fun messing about in free roam with friends though. Hopefully GTAV will rectify what IV got wrong.

but it's going to have some sh!tty contrived storyline to make you play co-op, so you'll need to find two reliable people to play the campaign with or suffer the stupidity of bots...

Regarding co-op campaign in GTAV:

It would be impossible to do that and keep the level of precision we've got in this. You could make a great co-op game, but we felt that we're doing other bits of our multiplayer that will fulfill those desires in ways we think are very fun.

Dan Houser, Rockstar Games

Looks like it's single player only. :)

Still think the main campaign will be single player only I think co-op would complicate it too much.

If by 'bad' you mean just like Thief with superior gameplay, superior graphics and produced by many of the same people, then yes. The plot is a little thin at points I'll grant you that, as for th game not liking you, no. If you act like a complete ******* other, nicer people don't like it. It's rather good.

I have a challenge for those of you who play Dishonored.

Kill a Tallboy and get away without being detected.

Easy. Lady Boyles Last Party, clear the patrolling guard that patrols near the Boyle house, get up on a nearby ledge or lamp post (I forget) wait for the tallboy to pass under and perform a drop assassination.:p You also get the achievement about killing a tallboy using only your sword.

Missing the point, it went on to sell extremely well AFTER the story was leaked and the fuss started, meaning it didn't impact on the sales and that most people probably enjoyed it perfectly well.
