Hi there,

at our local FLGs and at home we're only playing the standard 40k missions. I've never been to tournaments because... hmm I think I suck (a lot) and german tournament players seem to be the worst of them all - worldwide. Really. But I'm still bored of standard missions and interested in custom or tournament style missions.

Could anyone of you tell me where to find some? Google found mostly 4th edition missions, so do you know any good 5th edition ones?

Thanks for you help :)

There is a big selection of race specific missions out there with GW, they were supposed to be released as a book but last I heard they're going to start appearing in WD at some point.

Theres no reason you could'nt modify the 4th edition missions though, indeed many would need no changes at all and still be perfectly playable with the current ruleset - likewise dont be afraid to write your own, scenario's dont always have to be balanced remember, what they have to be is fun for both players, talk to your opponent.

You may also consider looking up the "'ard boyz" tournament scenario's, I'd imagine that they can be found on the net.

He who shall not be named also has a good mission that I've used in a tournament:

5 objectives, one in the center and one in the center of each table quarter. To secure an objective you need to have both a troops unit and the greater sum of units within 3" of the objective. Troops count as two units for this purpose. To contest an objective you need to have simply the greater sum of units.

5 kill points, which you select from your opponent's army at the start of the game. Any unit, transport or character can be selected as a KP.

You win by having the greater sum of OP and KP. You can also play that you need to have the greater of both individually to win.

Missions like this (KP and OP) encourage balanced list building, emphasize troops and mobility and almost inevitably end up with a giant fight in the middle of the table, which is usually fun.

an old "silly fun" game we used to play

A-Bomb Football

deploy as normal, place a large ATOM BOMB in the centre, or a deadly looking "doomsday device"

the objective of the game is to bring the bomb back off of your own table edge (to be used in another dastardly plot)

to move the bomb, an infantry unit must assault the bomb. once assaulted, the bomb stays with the unit. infantry holding the bomb may only move up to 6" in the movement phase, but may still run as normal.

Shooting
in shooting, the bomb does not block line of sight, although the unit holding the bomb gain a 4+ cover save because the enemy do not want to set off the bomb by shooting it.

Assaults
enemy units may still assault the unit holding the bomb as normal, after resolving combat the winner gains possession of the bomb, but obviously cannot move with the bomb until killing the opposing infantry (who may win possesion next round) to get around this the unit in possesion of the bomb may "pass" it to a friendly infantry unit within 6", this pass is made after the assault phase before your own movement phase

Winner
The winner of the game is the player who gets the bomb closest to their table edge.
