Do you ever get misguided **** comments re the Aquila on you're bald head?

I ask because i remember reading some stories about warhammer tattoos and the similarities between the imperial eagle and **** iconography.

One in particular sticks in my mind. A guy with an Imperial Eagle across the chest or back (i cant remember which) takes a lady home. Gets his shirt off, she sees the tat and freaks. I think she kicks him in the balls or something screams at him that hes a **** while hes frantically trying to explain that its not **** its part of his hobby.

More on topic, I've always been interested in getting a tattoo, possibly warhammer related. But have never been able decide on anything concrete. I've always been drawn to Space marine legion icons (including Chaos pre and post heresy) but have never been able to find anything that is really relevant to my life long term (something which i feel is very important for a tattoo.

I suppose that's a big point - personal meaning of the tattoos.

I'm looking at getting an Inquisitorial Rosette over the next couple of weeks myself, on the left arm, of course.

With all of your warhammer-related tatts, did you get them because they look cool, or is there a deeper personal reason as well?

Yeah, I've had more comments then I can count, and a few incidents I'd like to forget. It's all about ignorance for the most part, I take it in stride. No regrets.


With all of your warhammer-related tatts, did you get them because they look cool, or is there a deeper personal reason as well?

The deepest meaning for me is that I just love the game and everything about it. Most of my tats are stuff I'm into... Warhammer, music, my wife, comics, etc. (in no paticular order) :)

I wanted to get an Eldar farseer rune tatoo, but mummy said its one small step from tatoos to being found naked and dead behind a bus shelter. Rather put me off the idea.

I've considered getting a repilian tattoo, and did consider a small hydra head tattoo. (I love hydras, I have a distinct repilian theme running through my dark eldar army and have been planning a small Alpha Legion force as my second 40k army.) For tattoo locations, one of the locations I was considering was near the hip.

I read the book 'Legion' last week. Those who have also read that book would understand why I ended up laughing so hard.

While I don't have any myself, I met a guy at a party in Rhode Island while on tour who had a bunch of tattoos and amongst them was an Aquila and a Black Templar tattoo. When I pointed at the Aquila and asked "whats that?", he looked a little embarrassed and started to try and explain it until I said "glory to the emperor brother". We finished a bottle of Jameson and talked 40k till the sun came up haha good times.

I'm considering an aquila, an angel of death like from the dark angels forgeworld brass, possibly a bio-hazard/nurgle symbol, but thats more of a "sick" joke...
