Hello BoLSLounge!

As many of you out there may know, Game Empire Pasadena holds a Warhammer 40k tournament every second Saturday of the month. These tournaments have been wildly successful, at times pulling in upwards of 40 players. The formats and missions have changed over the years with changing editions and an ever-evolving meta and for the 2013 season we introduce the biggest change yet; Disdainful (Travis) and I have put together a great series of events designed to appeal to all sorts of players. In the upcoming year, interspersed between the regular monthly events, we will be hosting four larger Championship tournaments with larger prizes than ever before at a Game Empire event! So everyone gets the chance to participate in eight of the regular, smaller RTT-style events, and the four marquee events throughout the course of the 2013 tournament season. More details after the break.

In addition to being larger tournaments with larger prize support, the results of the Game Empire Championship Series events will be reported to Rankings HQ. Each of the 4 Championship events will have a different and unique format ranging from no-holds-barred 'Ard-Boyz style events, Forgeworld inclusive style events, to a soft score heavy hobbyist focused event. Points levels will also vary to allow as much variety and be as inclusive as possible, and there will be a few scenarios modified from the standard, too. The four events are designed to be enjoyable and unique so that a player who attends all of them will have a different experience each time, and a player who is looking for a specific experience can adjust their schedule accordingly.

The 2013 Championship Season will kick off in January with the first event, a Bay Area Open Qualifier!

April 13th: “Swiss Anyone?”
The Swiss style events have gained in popularity over the last few years, in no small part thanks to the growing popularity of Warmachine / Hordes tournaments. Swiss style events are Win, Loss, Draw so winning is everything and time management is a must! Lower points, more rounds, and shorter round times combine to make the Swiss event fast paced, and hyper competitive. 1500 Points, Swiss style W/L/D, No Forge World, 4 rounds, $20 entrance fee, 32 Player limit, 1 hour 30 min rounds, 45 min lunch break. All games must complete a four full turns or both players will be awarded a loss. Draws are counted as a loss. Strength of Schedule and 6th edition Secondary Mission Objectives earned will be tiebreakers.

July 13th: “It’s so Fluffy it Hurts”
Not everyone loves the die hard, 'winning games is everything' mentality of tournaments. Some of us thoroughly enjoy the hobby and fluff side of these events. To help give those players an outlet we have a tournament that’s so fluffy it might actually hurt some of our regulars! But a little variety goes a long way! 1850 Points, full old-school RTT with Sports/Painting/Comp accounting for half your overall score! If you’re a fluff bunny, this one’s for you! $20 entry fee, 40 player limit, 3 rounds, 2 hour 15 minute rounds, 45 min lunch break. All games must complete four full turns or both players will be awarded a loss.

8:30ish - 9:30 - Set up and talk shop.
9:30am - 10:00 - check-in, sign-up, event preamble, pairings
10:00am - 12:15pm - Round 1
12:15 - 1:00 - Lunch
1:00 - 3:45 - Round 2
4:00 - 6:15 - Round 3
6:30 - Winners announced

Prize support will be awarded to Best Army, Best Overall, Best Sportsman, Coolest Conversion(s). Yes, that is the order prize support will be given, Best Army is number 1!

October 12th: “Warmaster Cup”
This is the capstone to the Championship series. Purely competitive, this tournament is designed to cap off the series with a no holds barred fight for who is the top of this series. The winner not only receives prize support in the form of some major store credit but there are some other goodies in store for the Warmaster! 1750 Points, 'Ard Boyz format. No Painting requirements/scores, no sportsmanship (You
will still get tossed for being a jerk), no comp. No Forgeworld allowed. 3 rounds, 2 hour 15 minute rounds, 45 minute lunch break. $20 entry fee. 40 player limit. All games must complete four full turns or both players will be awarded a loss.

8:30ish - 9:30 - Set up and talk shop.
9:30am - 10:00 - check-in, sign-up, event preamble, pairings
10:00am - 12:15pm - Round 1
12:15 - 1:00 - Lunch
1:00 - 3:45 - Round 2
4:00 - 6:15 - Round 3
6:30 - Winners announced

Prize support will be awarded to Warmaster (Best Overall), Best General (2nd place), Best Imperial, Best non-Imperial. Best Imperial and Best non-Imperial cannot be awarded to someone who also won the Warmaster or Best General awards. Armies that have allied contingents that are not both Imperial or both non-Imperial are not eligible for the best Imperial or non-Imperial awards.

For all of the Championship Series events, the top spot takes home $200 in store credit, with another $200 divided amongst the subsequent placings, and the usual run of totally random (and hopefully completely useless!) Door Prizes!

We're looking forward to a very cool year, so come down and join us!
