Samurai theme Imperial Guard

An idea I've been toying with for a year, finally getting the right parts together. Each model uses a Wagames Factory head and body, Samurai parts for Veteran Sgts and HQs while troops get Ashigaru armor. Legs and arms/guns are Cadian based, Since the WGF parts are true scale and GW uses heroic scale rach model is bulked out with GS to create a smoother transition. Veterans with more ornate segmented armor, helmets, and Sashimono (banners) while platoon troops get a simple plate armor and bare heads. For Sgts I removed the rediculously huge chainsword and fitted a true scale Katana. Each Squad has a unique Mon (clan/family symbol) and different colored clothes, with the red armor unifying the entire army.

For vehicles Ive added Noburi (large banners) that are removable. As a vehicle looses a Hull Point I pull a flag for each HP, killing the vehicle itself on the last HP. The tanks are base coated with minor details...I want to get the troops done first them get the tanks.

I like the concept, though the swords look a little thin and the poses don't really seem to quite match the rest of the aesthetic. That, however, would be a much more complicated/involved conversion project. Generally very good, clean paintjob as well. I might consider doing a bit more of a wash on the skin, just so it doesn't look quite as flat, especially next to the nicely detail uniforms and highlighted shoulder guards.

I love the HP/banner idea! I may have to nick that for my armoured company (though with more traditional Imperial insignia.) Looking forward to seeing how you go about doing bright Imperial tanks. Tricky to get right, but I think your overall theme will suit them quite well. Good luck, can't wait to see how the army develops.

I'm diggin it. I've wondered how well those heads would do with the GW heroic proportions, and they don't look to bad overall.

The PCS (flamers x4) completed. I went with replacing Lasguns with Space Marine/Catachan style flamers so the fuel tanks would not interfear with the sashimono banners.

The CCS. I used the bionic arm from the Command squad then cut the sword down to make an older style strait sword rather than the Katana. I also trimmed the IG shoulder pad and added new pads from the Samurai kits.

Getting started on vehicles. Most are basecoated and highlites are starting. Finally got my aftermarket decals for a 1/48 Mitsubishi A6M2 "Zero" fighter. So the Vendetta got a makeover.

Having finally finished the core 1850 points of my Army, its time to give myself a treat. Something I've been wanting to do for 6 months, but forced myself to wait until I finished the core.
OGRYNS!!!!!!
Yes, our big meaty brothers rarely ever seen on the fields of battle.
I started with Fantasy Ogres then used plasticard and GS to create armor plates that tie into the models belt. This covered the big hole in the belly. Most of the guns were the old Ork Boyz Shootas. The Bonehead has a Heacy Bolter with Autocannon drum attached. I used the belly plates to create helmets with some thin plasticard used as helmet straps, except the Bonehead who is so tough he dosn't bother with one. Some various Ork shoulder pads finish them off.
