Greetings,
I have a question about the impact of unit movement-effects and ICs that I haven't seen explicitly address via some searches by The Google. Maybe it is in a faq somewhere. My apologies in that case.
In a game last night we came up with a situation where an IC (Winged Lash Sorcerer) was deployed as part of a unit of Obliterators, who are affected by "Slow and Purposeful".
At the start of the Chaos players turn he want to fly his sorcerer away to do foul things to my Ultramarines.
After some discussion, personal threats, etc. we determined that:
1. At the start of the movement phase the IC was part of the unit.
2. As part of the unit the IC (and in fact the entire unit) must move at the speed of the slowest member, so "Slow and Purposeful" (even ex. the 3d6 difficult terrain move of an IC).
3. The IC can only leave the unit after moving >2" away, so it can't leave them at the start of the phase and move freely (up to it's 12")
4. The IC in this case was still flying and could move over terrain freely.
5. If the IC ended the movement phase >2" from the squad it could leave the squad.
Is this the correct interpretation? Do people concurr? The debate was "can the IC just plan make its full move away unhindered."
As I mentioned I hadn't seen this on the web, and it has implications for doing things like jumping your IC in and out of squads (esp. Obliterators)
