An Englishman named Howard Carter opened a tomb (KV62) in Egypt and found, amongst other things, this:

It was, of course, the Tomb of Tutankhamun and remains one of the greatest archaeological discoveries in history and one that had an immense and profound impact on the public consciousness around the world.

Don't forget the Earl of Carnarvon's contributions to the whole thing

And how long was it before the curse got them all?

I'm not, very decent chap and if anyone has an interest in Egyptolog I'd recommen seeing his collection of antiquities at Highclere.:) He did a lot more than just fund the digs, he was an enthusiastic amateur egyptologist himself.

Well the Tomb was opened in 1922 and Howard Carter died in1939.:p Clearly the Royal Mail of curses.

Was it that long?
I had a vague recollection of poorly taught history suggesting there was a terrible curse that effected members of the dig party...another success for the education system lol.

Carnarvon died of an infected mosquito bite shortly after the tomb was opened (and yes his dog did die at the same time in England which is rather odd), but I don't think anyone else connected with the opening died particularly soon after.

It is amazing at how readily the mind spotts patterns in random events...

Highcleres Eygyp exhibition is excellent, however, I used that as a complete front when selling the idea of a visit to the family. My true intentions were to bump into Michelle Dockery. Didn't happen, but I did get a cool pencil sharpener in the shape of king Tuts death mask.

Comparing Necrons to an ancient Egyptian artefact on a thread started by EG, good luck with that ;)
