I have been reading Homestuck since the summer.

It's brilliant, it's beautiful, and it completely blows my mind. "John, rise up" actually brought tears to my eyes. However, I'm about a year behind as of the holiday weekend, and this thing makes no freaking sense. It's beautiful, and I'm sure it means something, but I don't know what! It's like going on a date with a manic pixie dreamgirl out of some coming-of-age-movie, only the psychologists screwed up and actually she's a psychotic pixie dreamgirl because she's afraid of toasters, thinks God is a pangolin, and can hack into wifi networks by tilting her head. But she's really hot. And growing up is involved.

I feel like I'm always just about to get it... and then everything changes.

Am I missing something? Is this story going to resolve into sense at some point, or should I just sit back and enjoy the ride?

Think that just about sums it up.

LO actually L. That really does.

Also, those cosplayers are now my favorite people in the universe.

While I can't comment on Homestruck, I can recommend a couple other excellent webcomics.

Erfworld (http://www.erfworld.com/)and Order of the Stick (http://www.giantitp.com/comics/oots.html) are both very well written adventure comics, both based on RPG style worlds (OotS explicitly takes place in I think 3.5 D&D, while Erfworld is kind of like Wizard of Oz set in a turn based strategy world).

Goblins (http://goblinscomic.com/)explores the unfortunate implications of most RPG worlds through the eyes of a group of goblins.

Manly Guys Doing Manly Things (http://thepunchlineismachismo.com/) is an awesome play on steroid-overdosed video game characters.

I've linked to Darths and Droids (http://www.darthsanddroids.net/) before, in which screen caps of the Star Wars movies are used to represent the actions of an RPG group as they play a series of campaigns.

The Adventures of Dr. McNinja (http://drmcninja.com/) can't really be explained. I'll just say that one chapter involves Dr. McNinja rescuing Benjamin Franklin's Clone's Ghost from Dracula's Moon Base, where he happens to meet both Hitler and Bruce Lee.

Exterminatus Now (http://exterminatusnow.co.uk/) is basically Sonic the Hedgehog meets Warhammer 40k. It's pretty awesome.

Everyone probably already knows about xkcd, but now there's a What If section: http://what-if.xkcd.com/
(Warning: this comic occasionally contains strong language (which may be unsuitable for children), unusual humor (which may be unsuitable for adults), and advanced mathematics (which may be unsuitable for liberal-arts majors).)

I hate homestuck!

The SO and her friends are obsessed with it, and cosplaying it, and shipping it, etc

And the grey body paint is a pain in the arse cause it goes everywhere...

In fact, more accurately I hate the FanDumb the comic just does nothing for me...

Love OOtS (though I think my feed fell off... I haven't read it in a long time). I liked Erfworld Season One well enough, but decided not to follow it to its new site. I'm not sufficiently into computer strategy games. Now, if it had been a mins game that he'd been sucked into...

Have to check those out.

Wow. I had no idea XKCD What If existed. That I'll definitely check out.

The what if is awesome. He answers reader emails, taking them to their logical, absurd, extreme. One case, the email asks "if everyone in the world pointed a laser at the moon, how bright would it be?" He proceeds to calculate how bright it would be, for increasingly larger and larger lasers, until the lasers are so powerful they literally shift the moon from its orbit and send it flying off into space (yeah, the physics can get pretty weird sometimes).

...wait.

What about it suggested a computer game and not a tabletop game?

I've seen things you people wouldn't believe. Attack ships on fire off the shoulder of Orion. I watched C-beams glitter in the dark near the Tannhauser gate. All those moments will be lost in time... like tears in rain...
