Didn't see this coming, no sir.

Crusade of Fire is a campaign system for Warhammer 40,000 that enables you to join the campaign to control the Corvus Sub-sector. Whether you choose to join the Crusade of Fire itself, the foul Servants of Ruin or the bloodthirsty Prophets of War, the fate of the sub-sector lies in your hands.

This 96-page, full-colour hardcover book features exclusive artwork and a host of dynamic new rules. As well as the campaign system itself, the book contains rules that can be used in any Warhammer 40,000 game, from massive multi-player scenarios fought in low-gravity environments or in bunkers deep below the ground, to expanded rules for Flyers. It also features rules for playing games in the gladiatorial arenas of Commorragh as well as for fighting battles on the surface of a Daemon World.

Crusade of Fire also features the story of nine hobbyists as they play through the campaign, including detailed battle reports, fantastic army showcases and turn-by-turn accounts of their conques

What ammuses me is a couple of people's lament that they don't do any campaign books anymore and that GW doesn't listen to its fans...

Reading it properly, seems to be '40k for people who want to have a ton of fun'.

Very, VERY up for this!

Oh, and the first person to criticise this using tournaments as the reason is going to get an ekick right up the arse.

that rocks! i haven't heard a single rumour about this but now i look back and think it makes sense. not too long ago there was the Daemon World article in WD with rules etc and they seem to be using "The Gamer" more and more too playtest quite openly. Daemons, New WoC stuff, Daemon Rules.... what else is to come...

So if you buy the Wall of Martyrs box seperately it costs £131, so not a bad saving. 24% or so.

Those defense lines really are fantastic. I do wish there was less dead Cadian going on, but it's certainly something I can deal with.

As long as this book is better (read fatter on the optional rules and so on) than the campaign book edited last summer for Battle...

They really need to stop with this. Considering that certain things are completely unavailable online, and can't even be found on eBay, yet I know of a store that has multiples of numerous "Limited" or "While Stocks Last" things sitting on their shelves gathering dust.

The worst part of something like this, is that almost nothing is known about it. Maybe I'd really like this, and maybe not. But if I'm not willing to pony up the money for advance orders on a book that I don't know the contents of, when my last three preordered books have arrived damaged, I may never be able to find a copy if it turns out to be something I'd like.

And, how can you have something that contains new stuff that can be used in any 40K game, that many people don't have access to rules for? Anger meter rising...

Yeah it's a real pain because things are often sold out before people have the chance to get the WD issue that comes (out the weekend after?)

I'd probably buy some of this stuff if I could see it in the store, but I don't have enough information about it and I'm not crazy enough to pre-order it on a whim.

If it's any good, hopefully I'll be able to find it somewhere, if not then meh, GW lost the sale.

And I say that as someone who loves the idea of campaign books.

Back on topic; is there any indication if the games are all Imperium Vs Xenos, or will they work Imperium Vs Imperium? I'm assuming it's pretty open format at most games as Space Marine Civil wars, but I'm curious.

I've had 0.0 problem with "while stocks last" going to my local GW. Granted, I don't look for everything, but I think they've got different levels of "while stocks last".

What I DO have a problem with is that now when I can see closer images, those corpses along the foot of the bunker are rather bad looking.

Dear local retailer, why do you not open until noon so I can order this through you and support my local store, rather than me ordering it from GW before it sells out online? Sincerely, NockerGeek.

A: Becasue GW wants all that high-margin direct sales profit for themselves. They want you to get stuff like Rhinos from FLGSs.

I've had 0.0 problem with "while stocks last" going to my local GW.

Ask Denzark about his limited Chaos Codex.

I wouldn't have a problem with it, were my 'local' GW not an hour and a half drive away.

I might need to get that book just a LOT!

From someone who regularly pushes for games using the Battlemissions book, I can say with my hand on my heart I am deffinitely going to have a few goes at this!

And Wall of Martyrs indivicual kits?? GW stop giving me good excuses for spending my money :'( I want to save up to go to the F1 British Grand Prix again, but it looks like I might be spending that £4-500 on an trenches!

Wow I hope its as fantastic as Cities of Death. Sadly at my game store at the time I was the only one thrilled about it and oonly got to do one rogue trader tournament with the rules :(. If we can get a better understanding of the contents then I'm all for campaigning rules ESPECIALLY fighting in an Arena. After all Justicar Alaric did it why cant I XD. Also I too am fed up with the cold injustice that is while supplies last whether it be for 40k or other outlets.

Anyone else notice the really smooth transitions on the tall extensions for the modified Skyshield Landing Pad? Those look very interesting, not sure they're anywhere else and they don't quite look custom.

That's quite an old table that they've used in several photoshoots over the years. I think it might have even been the focus of the planetstrike release WD battle report

Just ordered 2 for me and a friend.
I called to place the order and the release date is Dec 1st. So they seem to be sticking with the 2 week notice model.

Not sure if it's anything that would be of interest or not to me, theres not enough information about it to really make an opinion either way. That said, I do support the idea of campaign books - but I'm more interested in the backround aspect over the rules.

Local Gw is holding a campaign with this book but you have to buy the book to enter...so 60 bucks for a campaign u wil lget cheesed to death in then never use the book again....I think not scammers.

I really never post here, but I can't help but wonder if that bloodthirster is a converted demon prince or new plastic...

It looks like a conversion, but it's weird they'd put a conversion of a bloodthirster in the book when they already have a model available. The knee guards look like knight of chaos pauldrons from fantasy. Unless it's just supposed to be a demon prince.

Edit: Pretty sure it's just a daemon prince the more I look at it, bummer.

They mention a wider variety of rules than they mentioned with BitB, bit early to say but I would say it is very much along similar lines.
