So normally I wouldn't bother with an obituary for a 'celebrity', but as well as being great actor and portraying one of Britain's most loved TV characters, it turns out that Clive Dunn (http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/entertainment-arts-20239694) was an actual war hero too, having spent 4 years as a POW. RIP

I sort of already assumed most the Dad's Army cast had already shuffled off this mortal coil...

So had I in truth, but it seems like there are still a few of them around. Amusingly he was the second youngest out of all them and by quite some distance, they just made him up to look like the oldest.

He was certainly a character that stands out.

Despite him playing one of the oldest characters, he was one of the youngest cast memebers. I think it was ITV who did a national service reality TV show some years ago and it had a number of actors who had been involved with national service and it was on that that I first heard him recant some of his experiances of seeing action.

Yeah ITV did the Lads Army series and then Bad Lads Army. I don't remember any of the actors they chatted with...

I seem to recall that "calm down dear it's just a commerical" guy was in it

as long as it doesn't go on too long and get awkward.

Any physical contact is awkward where I'm involved

It always does, at least close to the middle...
