after trying out camo schemes on my tanks, I ended up just painting them solid grey.

if you look around (especially at forgeworld pics) tanks do tend to look much better in a solid single colour, as opposed to camouflage.

so my suggestion, or 2 pence (or cents) is to just go for scab red all over, would look much more realistic and saves time fiddling about with camo schemes.

I would agree that camo can be hard to pull of on small models but what usually works out pretty well (from what I have seen) isn't small patterns but larger ones like big stripes.

Like these tanks here: http://www.warseer.com/forums/showthread.php?t=181149&page=2

GW has some nice painting tips and camo examples on their website.

I used a couple of them myself. Even if you do not like the colors you can change the scheme to what colors you like!

Hope this helps.

I think Bleached Bone and Scab red would look absolutely terrible together and no one should ever use the combo on IG..... and im not just saying that because i finished my first few guardsmen with the same color scheme.....

I tried nearly every camo scheme in the 4th edition IG codex and none of them looked quite right....then one of my smart *** co workers brought up a good point...with these colors whats the point of camo? That is unless they are hiding in a field of candy canes.

Instead of camo, I painted the body armor with a base coat of mechrite red, followed by scab red, then a very heavy wash of badaab black wash (looks freaking great). For the cloth I went with a simple 50/50 skull bleached to astronomican grey base, bleached bone mid tone, and skull white dry brush.

Ill post pics later tonight. -.-

I used this pattern for one of my Leman Russ' (well one side of it....its hard to paint straight lines...) and it worked well. Having alot of issues with weathering the bleached bone without it soaking up the wash or we.

Camouflage is a funny thing. There have been some very strange (and effective) schemes over the years.
WW2 British Desert Camo for example:

Ships in both world wars employed "Dazzle" Camo:

Camouflage is not just about blending in, its also about breaking up the shape and confusing the eye.

Camouflage can be any color, no matter how bizarre! Let your imagination run wild!

Scott Blue Painters Tape is awesome as well. Adheres to smaller details and doesnt take paint off when you remove it.
