Hi everyone

I was routing about in my bitz box earlier today when I found a conversion that I had never finished. A few minutes and one plastic techmarine head later I had a HQ that I had never used before, the Master of the Forge.

The unit seems to be a "shooty" HQ and the fact that he can bolster defences and makes Dreds a Heavy Support choice makes me think that I could use this guy to fill a the hole for a second HQ choice in games, so what do you think of him in general? Is he worth his measily entry points or should he be armed to the teeth?

If anyone's interested the model was made from Helbrecht, a servo harness and the afore mentioned techmarine head from the stormraven :p

He's not that good. You can fortify some ruins with scouts on an objective, hide him with a conversion beamer, that's about it. Dreads kinda suck now, so that doesn't do a whole lot of good, and while the conversion beamer certainly isn't bad it's generally not as good as it looks on paper.

Really!! I've had some great games with my MotF he's a great asset to my army, he's laid waste to a few Hqs in a few games. The MotF is a great IC if you use him right and the Conversion Beamer is nice at long range. So score on finding him in your bits box

Put him on a bike with his conversion beamer. Mobile artillery with increased toughness ahoy!

I'm working on a heavily kit-bashed Master of the Forge, myself (the conversion beamer is made of the spiral antenna from an old school land raider, the antenna dish from a modern space marine tank kit, a tau fusion blaster, one of the arms from a space marine tank storm bolter guy, and a couple of bits I can't even recognize anymore). I actually think that it's a good model, even without the bike. Stick him in a ruin - he can fortify it so it gives them 3+ cover - with some devastators - maybe missile launchers, since they enjoy similar range and have the versatility to back him up when he shoots at vehicles and infantry.
