Static Grass? Yay or Nay?

I just want to get some people's opinions of whether it is worth putting static grass on model bases or not. I attached a picture of two of my guardsman with and without static grass for your comparison.

With, but leave a little more of the green flock showing as well.

With, I wouldn't even bother with the flock. Just sand, paint, dry brush and then the grass.

I agree with Deadlift, static grass and painted/dry-brushed or washed sand, the flock isn't necessary.

Sounds good. I'm currently painting a squad ill do that with them then and see how it looks.
