View Full Version : WD no longer numbered

I've just noticed that the new look WD comes without numbers. I can't find a number anywhere on today's issue, just the month and year.

I'm not sure what I think about this, or why they have done it. Given how long they have been numbered for, I can't see what abandoning that system does for the new look WD. A symbolic break with the past and a new birth for WD perhaps?

I just noticed this too, bit sad. Going to pencil the number in mine anyway.

They still have spine quotes though, I like spine quotes.

Yeah, I like the quotes. I prefer when they attribute them to characters rather than just being random quotes, it helps you put context onto it and give me a nice little imaginary scenario in which the character says it.

I would write the numbers on, but they are too close to books for me to be able to even contemplate defacing them.

I just leave them as is.

I would have preferred numbers.

I beleive that it is so that there will be no back ordering of the WDs. That is the WD of the month is WD, full stop. Then it is essentially updated next month. Don't understand this myself but has something to do with back orders.

Just re-read the above, doesn't make much sense but WD back orders is the thing to remember or rather the lack of them :s

I don't see how the presence of numbers affects whether they'll supply a back issue or not, if they don't want to supply back issues the number doesn't effect that...

But it is however true.

True as in that's why it's no longer numbered?

And not the new team are sulking cause they can't have no 1 on their new WD?

No, I don't really care about numbers. I don't have OCD.

It's true that they're destroying issues.

Well yeah they said as much in the last old style one didn't they?

Everybody has OCD to some degree about something :p

And all the others are numbered...

I don't care about numbers!

If I have OCD about anything it's keeping my flat clean because I'm not a pig.

oh that's the worst kind of OCD, overzealous cleaning is the sign of a diseased mind, we better get the trepanning gear out to release the daemons...

It's hardly overzealous.

I DO have OCD and yeah, it really does irritate me and get under my skin quite a bit. I can't help it but I don't mind being lightly made fun of for it either because I know it is ridiculous. :D

I wasn't really taking the piss, it's simply fact, my step brother has OCD so I know exactly what annoys him. :D

I'd like to have the numbers, but at least I will no longer see a reference online, read the issue cover to cover looking for the original article, and discover the numbering was different in that country at that time, and have to read the next issue to find what I wanted originally.
