Death From Above - Necron Night/Doomscythe freehand painting

Been a while (around 14 years) since I did any freehand painting so I thought I'd have a go with my Necron Airforce.

Was thinking of keeping these as the ones that fill the troop slots and going with a Grim Reaper style design for the Doom Scythes and then try and figure out another style for the elite slots.

12 flyers all up in a single FOC.

Love the idea, and they look great all lined up, just needs a slightly meaner expression IMHO. With the shape of the cockpit void, I'm getting cuddly koala rather than evil skull ;).

I agree they look awesome but if you play them all at once your opponent may Throttle you.

Very lovely design and steady hand! Really good take on the fliers form, and how to incorporate the skull. Are you planning to keep the cockpit entirely dark?

No where did I say that would run 12 fliers in a single list, I simply stated that a single FOC allows for 12 and that is how many I'm doing. I'm an Apoc player anyway with around 20k of Necrons in my Hobby Room. I like to have all the options for the standard FOC in my collections, so if a codex allows 6 Ghost Arks and 3 Doomsday Arks, guess what I have? 120 Warriors, yep you guessed it, got them.

Now that I have explained why I have them, can we drop the internet rage over Cron-Air? :)

And exactly how is airbrushing cheating? Hell if someone was able to do this kind of detail with an airbrush I would say they are even more skilled because you have to deal with feathering and overspray. Airbrushing, at least on any major detail, is no easier than hand painting, it just requires different techniques and allows you to do things that require a needless amount of work to do.

Beautiful work on these fliers though, love the general look, its really very skilled and beautiful.

The Deaths Head Moth was very much an inspiration for the initial design. I'm now thinking of adding the same sort styling to the rest of the army.
