Casting / Moulding Products

I've spent a fair bit of time recently making custom components/ conversions and want to duplicate them, I don't know anything about home casting but hoped a small scale product like this might be useful - I want to replicate in green stuff or similar

Has anyone got any experience with this stuff or can they recommend a similar/better product or option?

Just to be clear - I've no interest in infringing IP or copying components that are made by GW, but it took me aeons to make that dreadnought foot and I need 3 more

you could try anvil industries.

they offer a commision based service (though you cant use any GW or other major company bits), where if they think it will sell, they cast for you and give you money per item sold on their shop.

but the link wolfshade posted has some great info too, casting (i have not tried yet... but i will soon) is expensive to start but ok once you get the hang of it and know what parts/materials you need/

the instant mold stuff is great, if you are after press molds. more complex parts like full guns and pads or heads its best to resin cast with rubber molds.

the resin tutorial makes resin casting so tempting but I'm going to lead myself gently away from it before I start staying up all night building vibrating plates and playing with chemicals. Explaining scalpel cuts on my hands is already hard enough.

I'm really keen to try the press moulds, gonna buy some today and see how they go

According to it you can use resin if the pieces are thin enough.

I'm going to give it a try in another week or so.

hirst arts also covers the basics of mold making using a few mold materials. The one thing he does that suddenly makes silicon molds not look so intimidating is use legos to form the "box". His sources probably won't help you though as they're all US.

It's all more about the mess you'll make and the patience needed. Plastic glue is probably as bad health wise as anything you're likely to deal with in molding. EDIT:albeit you're prob using more qty of the nasty stuff when casting if you're using resin.

I have used instant Mold for about a year now. It's good for replicating one sided pieces, but not two sided. Green stuff worked just fine as a medium in the castings.
