I was really bothered by the limited number of poses offered by this model, so I was forced to get creative with the basing instead of the pose. What do you folks think?

Looks fantastic!

If you get a chance to do another you should try playing with the pose, it does take a little finagling though. Having his foot hovering over a downed MC, walker, or lord would be pretty sweet.

Yeah I wanted to do something like that, but after assembling the first one I realized how much of a nightmare it would be to do it and just thought to go with the natural pose.

I don't know why they had to make the joints on the Dreadknight so difficult. I still like the model though, even with the slightly static pose, and the rules are a ton of fun in 6th.

Funnily enough, though, I played in a team tournament this weekend and faced off against Chaos. My Dreadknight took two wounds from shooting before it got to assault. I assaulted a squad, the Champion challenged, and managed to roll some 6's and put a wound on my Dreadknight before turning to paste. I chased that squad off the board, then assaulted a second CSM unit. That unit's Champion was also stuck challenging, and guess what, he rolled some more 6's and took the Dreadknight's last wound, though the Champion died. The Dreadknight still chased ~400 pts of CSM off the table, though, so it was totally worth it.

Yeah, they're just freaking cool units and even better when they kick *** on the table. :D

Agreed gentlemen I am loving this unit in the new edition. In the previous one I had my doubts, but damn does it perform well now. FYI my "Chaos Champion" in the pic was actually the Captain from an Assault on Black Reach box that I kit bashed to make a champion.

Yeah, I noticed that. Nice spikey bitz.

If the Dreadknight were more poseable, I would want to make one pulling a This Is Sparta kick on a Bloodthirster or something.

I like the details on it, and the basing is done really well.

What is it about the dreadknight that makes it hard to pose though, are the legs all in one piece?

The legs are one solid piece and pose, but even worse is the wires on the back and the Knee's attach in such a way that you would a big challenge to repose. Honestly the few I have seen reposed makes me stand and applaud because it is TOUGH to do and pull off well. Lots of Green stuff and lots of cutting major components of the model.

About the only joint that actually articulates is the shoulder, iirc. And even then, the shoulder hydraulics limit the range of motion a bit. I don't know why they didn't design it in more pieces so it was fully poseable.

Looking at it I mean they really would only have to make the hip joint articulate as well as the knee and I think that would be enough for a dynamic range of poses. After building one I am think of how I could work to mess with the pose more and I think if I was SUPER careful I could separate the the leg just below the knee joint and then just lop off the hip ball and fill it with green stuff so I could move the leg positioning around a bit. I would need to be very careful though and the plastic around that joint is thick so I would have to work slowly at it.
