Not to bore people with yet more imperial guard, i figured to keep my creative juices going i'd document my 1st voyage into imperial guard. Apologies that the pics are mediocre at best.

For starters, i wanted to do a basic transport to wet my appetite for IG armor. I chose a chimera for starters. I'm using a variation of "CADMAT" the canadian variant of digital camoflauge. The stencils were bought from a pretty useful site: http://tacticalcamo.com/MARPAT/digi.php

Next, being a Daemonhunters player in search of a more helpful codex, i fleshed out my inquisitorial storm troopers, which are kasrkin that work as veterans:

This brings me up to about week 3 of my endeavors. Being a former eldar player, the valkyries were what really sold me on the new guard codex. My inspiration for them was from an outstanding tutorial from: http://akaranseth.over-blog.com/pages/Step_by_Step_Valkyrie_Imperial_Guard-1335315.html. From this tutorial i was introduced to the wonderful world of OIL PAINTS! Incredibly easy ways to weather vehicles. Below is one valkyrie with the panels half-shaded, and one finished one:

More to come given the pic-cap per post.

Now it was time to paint many, many guardsmen. I actually played with miniwax polyshades dipping for the first time here, and it made the project quite speedy. Each guardsman is base coated by airbrush with GW Kemri Brown foundation paint. Then catachan green, boltgun metal, and flesh foundation paint is applied. The models are dipped in miniwax polyshades "Bombay Satin" before transfers are applied with Microsol. After this the decals are given a coat of 'ard coat equivalent, and sprayed with Testor's dullcoat to get rid of that miniwax shine:

Last, i needed a cool command squad, and a break from vehicles and hordes. I moved on to the CCS advisors, two commissars, and Creed/ Kell.

So that's everything up to present. If this thread generates any interest, i'll post my LRBT and demolisher kit. They're almost assembled, and ready to get their digital camo applied.

Sorry for such a lengthy post!

These guys look fantastic, a really nice job sir. Thank you for the WIP of that Valkerie--the pre-shading of the different panels is brilliant. Keep us posted...

Very successful results, and I am particularly impressed by the use of digital camo on the tank. I've been looking at 'digital thunder' camo patterns which is being flogged to Jordainian forces and popular with the Canadian forces but I simply am not brave enough to tackle it myself. Great to see pics of theory put into practice. Bring on the heavy support tanks!

I did a little project log on the forum on the painting of the tanks below. I now finally have some heavy armour for my guardsmen:

Now that is a ton of minis, to some up some of my comments:

- Fantastic to see those Inquisitorial stormtroopers put to good use, but be a huge shame if they'd be left on the sideline!
- The Astropath's colours are great, very bright and contrasting with the outerwise somewhat baldn Cadian.
- How did you go about applying the camo scheme on your vehicles? I'd imagine that doing that all by hand would take ages.

Many thanks. I rounded them out to three squads of 10 to use as veterans, so they see plenty of use

Thanks, the advisors were my first IG project, quick and easy to paint, and let me practice my color scheme on the MoO, as he looks like a standard guardsman

I actually posted a wip thread on the tanks here: http://www.lounge.belloflostsouls.net/showthread.php?t=2684

I'll post as i add to the army. Next up hopefully will be two hydras -or- a baneblade equivalent.

The camo on your tanks is awesome! Now you just have to apply it to all of your guys.
