I tend to be a bit hard on GW but let me pay them a complement. A few months ago somebody started a thread asking what we wanted to see in the new Chaos Codex. I asked for one thing: Plague Zombies. GW delivered. Thanks! (regardless of whether you can have 10 or 35).

The rest of the codex looks good too in my opinion.

Given that GW had previously had rules for zombies in some way that escapes me, I think it was a given that Plague zombies were going to be in the book. Zombies seem to the thing in pop culture. Taking that with the previous zombie rules, you now have zombies in the Chaos dex.

I'm sure they appeared during the 13th Black Crusade campaign GW ran one summer, though I may be remembering wrong, I was only a nipper at the time.

That is correct. It was the Eye of Terror supplement.
